someplace to download digital pictures

Post by naturegirl »

Hope all of you are having a great weekend (especially Grommit)! As for myself, I have a miserable cold which I think I caught over the net from Connie. Hopefully I'll be OK by Thursday cause I can't imagine how painful my stuffed head would be on a plane.

Anywho, does anyone know where to download digital pictures to a disc on the island? We have only 128mb of memory on our canon s200 and that goes fast and because my camera is old it needs a software upgrade in order to get a FLash card with more memory and I have no idea how difficult that is to do.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess Connections might have some ability to do that.

You could email your pics back to your self from connections as well as long as you remember the cable.

sailorgirl, Wouldn't that be too much memory for a email to handle? As you can tell I'm not too tech savy but it seems that 128mb of pictures is alot to be emailing. What do you think?

It would probably overload your inbox and would probably take a great deal of beach time to do. I believe I would take some CDs with me and I am sure you will find someone or someplace to create a CD and clear out the memory.

Have you considered purchasing another flash card?
The price of memory is cheap right now. If it is a SD card you can pick up a 128MB card for less than $10. Frees up beach time and gives you a spare in case something unforseen happens to your existing card.

I was thinking she said she has an old camera and the memory is in the camera rather than on a card. Your suggestion was the first thing I thought of as I just purchased a 2 GB card for a new camera for $16.99. Now if I could only get that card to work for memory in my head.

I did a google on the camera and found it uses CompactFlashTM card (Type I). Do a search on Google for this and you will find a number of sellers including Amazon. The difficult part was the size. If you are limited to 128Mb there is a smaller selection available. Everybody wants 2Gb or larger these days :(

Good luck.

Actually, my husband went to B&G camera in the city and they said they don't make/carry them at that size anymore(128MB). They said to update our software and get a bigger Flashcard. I didn't think to look for them online. CaptainJay to the rescue! He is mailing 128MB Flashcard to ST John. We will pick it up when we arrive. Thanks Jay and all on this post for helping out!

2 Days more!

Nature Girl,
I put the card in the mail today. Shipped it priority. I think the card is empty but I haven't used it in a couple of years so if there is anything on it just erase it.
