Is it worth it to take a private water taxi?- what to tip?

I agree if we had more people or more money we would definately do the private taxi and the water taxi. I will be playing lotto on Tuesday so depending on that I may just take the privste route yet! A girl can dream, can't she?

just wanted to relay my most recent experience (timeline-wise), since my husband is the most impatient person in the world and we did contemplate doing the private water taxi.

it was just the two of us, and we didn't check bags. we landed at 3:50ish, asked one of the taxi drivers there to take just the two of us directly to Red Hook (it was $90 -- but I'm sort of claustrophobic and can't handle the taxi with other people after a long plane ride!).

we were in the taxi by 4 pm, and got to red hook by 4:30ish. we had him drop us off at duffy's in red hook, grabbed a quick drink, caught the 5 pm ferry (which left on time) and were in cruz bay by 5:15.

it was pretty easy. if we had a bigger group, or had checked baggage, it may have been quicker to use the water taxi, but this time, it worked out pretty well for us.

nature girl - we will be at the November 25th gathering. We leave one week from today! Wahoooooooo! You're going to be there that day too, right?

I had a painkiller (actually a couple ) at Duffy's and it was sooooo good! Have one of those babies and you'll catch that ferry with a huge grin on your face! And if you miss the ferry, you won't really care!! It's all good!
