Lobster for sale

Post by Pia »

FYI, there are fresh caught lobsters for sale every Saturday morning (well they say they will be there every Saturday morning) at the old car ferry dock in Cruz Bay.

Hubby just bought 5 for tonights dinner - not all for me we have 3 friends flying in today - total weight 12 pounds total cost $96.00 ($8.00 per pound)......yeah - if I knew how to post pictures I would add to the "porn" thread (food porn for the "newbies" reading  )

Now that i think about it...is it lobster season????

I saw a nice 3+ pounder whilst in the water last week. He looked tasty.

The are at the old car ferry dock in Cruz Bay next to Uncle Joes BBQ (across the street from The Lumberyard)

Hubby steamed them and they were fabulous - the tails had to be 3"-4" thick and big - hubby couldn't finish his - needless to say I cleaned my plate

And California Girl - it's a date come - on down :D

Good to know for next time. I'd heard a rumor about them, but I'd never found them when I was there.

Thanks, Pia! The last time we were there, a few years back, we were told that some of the locals sold fish on the dock but we could never find them. The hubby is all psyched about your lobster tip! Lobster in vanilla butter sauce...yum.

After the "loster men" had finished for the day they were replaced (at least they were this past Saturday) by the locals selling fish :)

Usually, if there are fishermen selling, they can be found in a few different locations

1) Opposite the old car ferry dock, next to the yellow "shack" store and he will be there with a block of wood (to cut them on) and some white coolers.
2) At the corner by Connections
3) In the parking lot opposite the Post Office

#2 and 3 - usually the same guy (he gets moved around alot depending on the day and which officer is working - so I have heard) look for a pick up truck with large white coolers in the back.

Happy hunting
