captainjay: May I ask what kind of underwater camera do you use. I am looking to get one or to get a housing for my Nikon D70s, but the housing costs more than the camera. What are your recommendations?

Those pictures were taken with a canons s500 in an underwater housing. It belongs to a friend of mine. We just bought a new Canon A570 IS and the underwater housing for it. The camera was a little less than $200 and I got the housing on ebay for $170 I hope it works as well as my friends.

Thanks, I guess I should have considered the possibility that I might be doing underwater photography when I bought the Nikon, but at the time, that was the last thing on my mind. I am still searching around some of the websites to see if I can find an acceptable, relatively low-priced underwater camera in the 6.0 mp range.

bayer40601, I've been reading some pretty good reviews about the Olympus 790. Its 7.1 meg and waterproof down to 10ft which may be good enough for snorkeling. Also shock/sand/dust proof as well. I've been keeping an eye on prices and have found it as low as $249 so far. It listed at $299.

SDM: Thanks. I'm going to look into all of these. Snorkeling will be all I'll ever do, but pj may get into scuba down the road. Here's another one from our last trip. The Caves

I have a Canon SD400 Digital Elph (not too expensive) and the "all weather" housing for it. It's good down to 10 ft. and was perfect for snorkeling. My camera's a couple years old now and only 5MP, so there's probably a newer, better model, but you can check my underwater pictures here (they've been edited in Photoshop): http://www.pbase.com/thegripps/underwater I think they came out pretty good, if I do say so myself.

CA Girl-Those photos are really, really good. It's almost like being there. In fact, I think I recognized a couple of those Parrot Fish at Waterlemon Cay. :D

Thanks Bayer! I threw away about twice as many more  I found out that it matters a lot how clear the water is. We didn't have the clearest water around STJ when we were there, but over at Lovongo Cay it was super clear. I think those pictures came out better than the others.
