Eating Early - Reservations needed

Post by melmd »

Hi again,

Questions about reservations. We will be there in mid December and plan on eating at resturants such as Morgan Mangos, Lime Inn, La Tapa etc. If we plan to eat around 5:30 - 6:30 will we need reservations? We will be with a toddler so I'd rather not have a really long wait.

Thanks for your help.

I'd say make a reservation any time the restaurant will take them.

I would call and make the reservation. I have traveled to St. John with a toddler and it's only a phone call, it can't hurt, even if it's not needed! Most places you stay at will have a local phone book with all the restaurants phone # listed. I always mentioned that I had a toddler and asked if they have a high chair while making the reservation.

Morgan's Mango does say "reservations recommended." When we went, I didn't realize that until about 40 minutes before we left the house. I called and they told me that we were going to have to wait. We went anyhow, but did wait about 20 minutes for a table. So, I'd say definitely make a reservation if you don't want to wait. We went during the off-season, and mid-December is pretty hopping.

I like to get reservations, even if I just call that day. With my kids at the toddler stage they would frequently fall asleep around 6:30. La Tapa was great for that - the tables on the right and left walls have built-in benches that look a lot like a spot to snooze for a little on. I've eat some great meals with a little blond head on my lap. They also make a good pasta with olive oil and garlic that my kids love - its not on the menu, just ask.

Cheers, RickG
