My bell's broke.

Post by pjayer »

My "New Post" indicator doesn't seem to be working. It was working this morning, then when I went back it wasn't. Refreshing and exiting/returning didn't help. Also, it shows everything as "Read". Is it me, or is anyone else having this problem?

Try logging out and back in again. Sounds like your cookie is broken.

I usually only have that problem when I notice I'm logged out. My bell is working :)

Logged off, exited, returned, logged in...still no ringing bell. Guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. Maybe it will fix itself in a bit. :? Thanks.

Ringing bell? Am I supposed to have one of these? When does it ring?

Ha that made me laugh! Tracy, it's the icon on the left side of a thread that indicates there is a new message in that thread. It's gold color and it "rings" or moves to indicate something is new - to grab your attention I guess.

I thought it only did that when the topic was considered "active" by the system???

I never knew that's what that bell meant!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

something like that. not sure if my explanation was 100% accurate but I did the best I could :) I'm sure Anthony or Rick or MrB can give a better tech explanation.

Thanks Mary Beth - I was wondering if I should turn up my volume or something!

I think th phpbb people call it a folder icon, and it's white when there is no new reply, orange-ish when new replied, and pulsing when it's considerd a '
hot topic'.

Another default fix is 'clear all cookies', but I don;t like that, because I like cookies!

MMmmmmm cookieeesssss arrrrrgggggghghhh.......
