It's a small world...

Post by nothintolose »

So tonight I started a cooking class (yes, inspired by the food porn people getting me interested in learning to cook).

Anyway, one of the ladies that worked there (Delilah) was wearing a Beach Bar T-shirt so I started talking to her and it turns out she lived there until recently. She said she worked at The Fish Trap, A t-shirt shop and last at The China Shack.

She says she normally leaves STJ for hurricane season and comes to New Orleans and returns after Jazz Fest to STJ. Apparantly, she is now struggling with whether or not to leave New Orleans to go back to STJ.

It was nice to see someone who wearing a Beach Bar shirt and feel like instant friends!

Yes its a small world. The weekend before last the wife and I were at Friday's near our house. A guy walks up to me and says aren't you Jay? He is a poster on Travel Talk Online that used to own a charter boat in Tortola and had sent me a couple messaages about flights from our area. He lives three miles from my house. "Haven't I seen you on the Forum"

This weekend I sold our boat on Ebay and the buyer lives near my brother in New Orleans, he also lived in St Thomas for two years and St Croix for eight.

A few weeks ago LULU sent me a message from this board asking about a charter boat in St Thomas. The boat is captained by a personal friend of mine, and owned by one of her family friends that lives a couple hours from me. Her brother went to college were I live and had an apartment basically across the river from my house.

It's definately six degrees of Kevin Bacon out there.

Jay

Very cool to see a beach bar tee! One of my customers came in last week with a Foxy's t-shirt and a cap from Corsairs. He's my favorite customer now!!

Here's another...

My daughter goes to school full-time but works part time some evenings at Texas Roadhouse. The other day she noticed one of the girls she works with wearing a J-hook.

Needless to say, they both went into a frenzy of "OMG, you get SJ!" Started jumping and screaming and hand flapping. She wants to go with us on our trip this coming June! They are now kindrid spirits!

It made me smile.

Years ago, we were walking down our street and one of our new neighbors had a Grumpy's T-shirt on (for those of you who remember Grumpy's).

Instant St. John connection. The new neighbors turned out to be Ruth and Ron.

Of course, that was before they were R&R of STJ. Anyone who has not read the story that was in Tradewinds a few years back, about how Ruth and Ron ended up on STJ should read it. Pretty darn funny. I think it's on their website.
