Fess up, Who Cries?

Post by flip-flop »

Ok, I LOVE STJ but am not a "leaving St. John" crier. My good friend & frequent fellow poster who shall remain nameless unless she outs herself is a big old cry baby upon departure.

SO who cries upon depature?

Sorry Guys I couldn't let a Friday go by without a chick thread :)

Not a wailing, blubbering cry but I do admit I have shed at least one small tear when I'm leaving the hotel on way to the airport. And then again when I board the plane. And then again when we ascend. And then again when we land in St. Louis.

But I don't have a problem or anything

I didn't even cry when I got stranded in a the freezing Atlanta airport with no cell phone and a delayed plane. I was upset, but still no tears.

I am normally a big crier for everything, but I was so mellow after a week in St. John that nothing really upset me.

The day that I moved off the island I bawled on the car ferry all the way to the airport. I cried when I got to the airport and I cried when I took off.

When I am on the ferry and it pulls away from the dock, I shed a tear or too. But I always cry at the end of a great trip. I cried a lot at the end of our honeymoon. It was truly the greatest trip for me.

So, yes. I cry. But I also cry at various commercials. (The Folgers Christmas commercial will be coming soon and I will be a blubbering idiot when that guy surprises his parents on Christmas morning) :P

Same here. I try to tell myself we'll be back next year everytime we leave. It helps a little.

yeah I might get a little misty. I do when I leave Maine each time as well. It's who I am :)
On the Caneel ferry last year there was a woman WEEPING - I felt so bad for her.

Heck, I cry when we're arriving -- or even before

OK, not cry, just tear:

1) When we upgraded out of sardine class at JFK.
2) When we landed.
3) When I got the keys and rounded the familiar corner to our condo.
4) When seeing people I knew that first day.

then

5) When handing in the keys.
6) Taking off.

Whew, I run the risk of dehydration!

LOL! A fellow commercial crier! I'm usually too pissed off about leaving the island and that my vacation is over to cry, but the first time I left STJ, I cried.

I cried last time when I came on island (granted that was to bury someone very important to me).......I also cry sometimes when I am reading
on-st.john and their jeep cams since I miss it so much.
I normally am misty when I talk with Ivan but lately he makes me laugh so much.........guess since it is getting closer to my time on island.......

I'll be right there with y'all.....it's 6 months until we even GET there & I'm already sad about when it's over!! Just gonna concentrate about the anticipation/fun of planning & getting there cause I know it "comes & goes" so quickly!

I have cried arriving more than departing, out of sheer joy as St. John is very special to both of us and now to my mom also so it is a really family/love/connecting thing. But then again, I tend to choke up at commercials.

Quick "highjack" here- FF, I can't believe you're almost to single digits. Wow!

I was sad on the ferry out but I teared up more coming in on the last trip. There was a lot that led me to that trip, and the ferry over is plenty of time to think about all that.
Next time will probably be the opposite.

Hmmm, I didn't cry when we left in Dec. to come home, although I was really, really sad. But I guess I know that I will be back someday, so that must be what keeps me so calm!!

Put me down for a tear or two. DH doesn't see because I have the sunglasses on.
