This page has some great pictures. The reviews on TripAdvisor are all good too.
I think that this might just be where we end up staying...

I could go mid Oct and I think Antoaneta could go but mid Oct may be prob for Jacquie but will ask this weekend.....I would love to be nearer Coral Bay.......my fav......and of course I would Ivan to ourselves.........Lulu76 wrote:Shoulder rates are a relatively new phenomenon. Realizing that November is not quite season but the tourists are starting to arrive, a lot of villas are starting to charge more between Nov. 1 and Dec. 15, calling it a "shoulder rate."designbyroe wrote:
pesky shoulder rates what is that?
since I lived on island and did not vacation do not know the villa lingo.......
What I want to know is are there really going to be more people going in early November rather that mid-October? Because I liked having all of Ivan's just to ourselves and not fighting for a parking space in Cruz Bay. If it's really busy in November, I think that'd take away from the experience.
I am really leaning toward either Cloud Nine or Starlit Escape. I don't think it'll be a problem to be that far from Cruz Bay. It won't be for me, I don't think.
So far, none of the places we've looked at have had shoulder rates. I just don't want it to be too crowded, but I liked the idea of going after more stuff opened back up for season. There were lots of places I wanted to try that were closed last time.
November will be fine, and it's probably easier for me to get away from work. I almost killed myself getting my magazine and newsletter done when I was gone for a week, and I really don't dig the idea of taking my computer to STJ with me for a week.

I guess instead of SOTB we would be EOTB......lolLulu76 wrote:So far, none of the places we've looked at have had shoulder rates. You are right as in Nov more things are open.....I think anytime in the first 2 weeks of Nov are cool.
I am just wondering with the propety tax eval going on will the Nov 2008 rates change again?
I think we'll be OK. I'm planning to put a deposit down after my income tax return comes because I'm going and whoever else wants to is more than welcome to join me. (Preferably someone who can drive the Jeep because I'll tell you right now, I am not that girl!)
So, if we reserve say February or March, then even if the rates go up, we'll be locked in for what we paid. That's what happened last year. DSJ raised their prices but we got the introductory rate they offered on Hale Lani for being one of the first people to book it.

I will drive........I am used to the switchbacks and the way Kenny makes drinks at Quiet Mon.....lolLulu76 wrote:I think we'll be OK. So we just need to choose a place near Coral Bay.......
Suggestions people help........lets look for a place for AT least 6 possibley 8.
I know with Lulu, me, Rosalie, Jacquie, Antoaneta that is 5 so 1 -3 more should not be a problem.........
I am so excited......I have NOT even gotten to my Jan trip and am already planning my Nov 2008 trip........
YEAH!!!
I just got home and I'm already planning a trip back. I'm a mess.
I like Little Plantation, too, but haven't seen a single review for it, which worries me a little.
If I'm going to cook, I want a place with a good kitchen that I want to be in. In Cloud Nine's reviews that was one thing people complained about (although I could ask the owner about that before we booked). I would kind of like a view from the pool. I'm so spoiled by Hale Lani, I think.
I think I'll start a new post and see if anyone has more advice...
