Mary Beth,

They were just finishing Skyway when we were there in June staying at Seawatch right next door. It's got great views.

Only downfall I saw was that you could see their hot tub area from Seawatch's deck which is actually gonna be extended out even further. We actually conetemplated renting Skyway this next trip but opted for Argonauta.

Hey Mary Beth,

Skyway is a very very nice villa. I haven't rented it, but I have visited their a couple of times. Skyway is all about outdoor living and the views!!!! The interior is incredible and upscale too, but the gardens, patios, dining areas, pool deck area etc. is what I found so appealing. Nothintolose mentioned that the hot tub area was visible from another villa and that this was a "downfall"?? I only saw one neighboring villa and it sits more off to the front of the Skyway property not side by side. I guess if someone stood on the outside corner of that villas deck and found a hole in the foliage to peer through, you may see into Skyways property. The other villa and Skyways hottub are very far apart. The hottub actually sits on it's own small deck down two or three stairs on the downhill side of the pool. You would need a 50 foot periscope with a zoom lens to see anything. I will try to post some photo's we took in July. Nothintolose, if you're reading this, I'm not doubting that you saw into the property but I thought using the word "downfall" didn't fit this.

Budman,

My comment was in no way meant to make Skyway seem like it's not awesome because it was our second choice of villas for next summer.

Here is a pic from the middle (not the corner) of Seawatch's deck where you can see Skyway...
Image
As you can see, you can only see the corner. I can tell you that when their kids were playing in the hot tub, and we were trying to take pics of the sunset, it was a little awkward for us because we felt like they thought we were spying on them or something (which we weren't). We could also see them swinging in that hammock. On other occasions, it made it a little awkward being out on our deck...especially when they were looking back at us

The villa is the next driveway after Seawatch and the shrubbery doesn't totally isolate it from the side of Seawatch which has a large deck. Seawatch sits a bit higher than Skyway as you can see from the pic, but I think Skyway probably has a better view because I don't think there is another villa on the other side of Skyway.

Skyway also has a HUGE parking area which is nice. I think that villa looks absolutely gorgeous, but I was just pointing out that it is not totally private on the Seawatch side. I would not go nekkid in the hot tub during the day

As for how far it was from Seawatch, I would say about 20 feet, but I am not really a good judge of distance - Cat could probably tell you better. I could see (through the shrubs) the guys working on the villa from the master bedroom of Seawatch, but I think that was the back of the villa. There is no shrubbery high enough to keep you from looking at the side of Skyway from Seawatch as you can see in my pic, but it is higher by the Seawatch master bedroom.

One other note is that the Seawatch deck is going to be extended out further forward; the spots for the posts are already there.

All in all though, like I said, it was still second choice on my list and the only reason we opted for Argonauta is that we wanted to be closer to town because of the group we are going with this time. The views from up on Gifft Hill are gorgeous!

I in no way meant to offend or mislead by using the word "downfall" as I didn't think it was that harsh of a word

Hope that clears things up a bit. Mary Beth, if you rent it, save a bedroom for me

p.s. I would spend ALL of my time outside at Skyway, I would be tempted to sleep outside there!

Nothintolose,

I wish the sunsets that we watched from Skyway were as clear as your photo, they were still beautiful just didn't photograph well for us.

I wasn't offended, I just didn't view Skyway as having any privacy issues, BUT or BUTT, now that you throw in daytime skinny hot tubbin YOUR observation makes sense to me now. I don't usually get nekkid outside in the daytime, but if I did I would just jump that railing you can't see from Seawatch! The rest of the pool area is very private, unless there is a telescope somewhere out there ;) I took no offense and I sure hope you didn't!!!!!!

Take care,

Budman

May I ask where on Gifft Hill this villa is? As in closer to Centerline or closer to S. Shore?
Also how many people would it sleep comfortably?
I love the Gifft Hill area and since it seems we need enough room for 8 Nov 2008 was looking at Gifft hill or Coral bay or even Carolina...........

Designbyroe,

Skyway is not that far from Centerline, it's close to the Gifft Hill School. Probably @ 5-7 minutes from Cruz Bay.

It has 5 bedrooms and would definately sleep 10 comfortably, but call Denise at onlinevacation.com, she manages Skyway. If you have any specific questions pm me and I'll try to answer them.

Budman - no worries, mon.

As for where it is, I think it's closer to Centerline, but I may be wrong (again I am not good with distances).

Don't know if it helps but it's on the same little dead end road as Cloud 9, Palm Villa, Seawatch and a couple of others that I can't remember their names off hand.

The villa looks absolutely gorgeous and if you are gonna stay on Gifft Hill, I would stay there...just don't go hot tubbing nekkid during the day if someone is at Seawtch

Oh Budman - thanks for the comments on my sunset pics :D

Here are two shots from Seawatch's deck towards Skyway that may give a bit more perspective. Again, this would NOT prevent me from renting Skyway. I would probably be in the pool more than the hot tub as we only used ours once...

Note in the first pic, you can see where the posts are gonna go when they extend the deck.
