checked bag allowance

Post by naturegirl »

How many checked bags are allowed on AA? I am going to have 2 coolers and a regular size suitcase between my husband and I. Then we will have our carryon's as well. Is this allowable?

I believe you can each have two checked bags, one carry on bag, and one carry on personal item.

Go to AA website and they detail the size, weight, and other restrictions for each.

You can each check two bags, so with only 3 you're fine.

Just be sure to come in under the weight limit (it can vary by airline and/or class of service). Last summer when I was departing STT I had one bag that was 51 lbs and one that was like 20...they made me take 1 pound out of one and put it in the other so that I came in at/under 50 lbs for each bag.

Thanks so much! Someone had told me you are only allowed one suitcase per person but I thought that was wrong. I'll check with AA for weight restrictions though.

Nature Girl,
Per Rick G its half the stuff and twice the money. That's the best advice I have seen for packing. That said I fully understand the coolers. We usually have three checked bags betweens us when we bring dive gear. We are going to try to cary on only this time since we aren't diving. I'll let you know how that works out.

I'm going to reallllly, realllly try to pack light, particularly because we are bringing two coolers with us. Problem is even when I go away for a weekend I overpack. I like to be comfortable and have everything I need, when I go away. I never know what I am going to wear until I try on a few things and then make a decision. I usually carry a bag just for my shoes, sneakers, sandals, flip flops. God forbid I ever wear the same thing twice. My husband, on the other hand, can live in the same Tshirt and jeans all week long when he gets home from work. He has TONS of tshirts but wears the same wholly one All the Time.

You will not need anywhere near what you bring. I did a 5 day trip in August and did carry on only and came home with 2 shirts that I never wore. I will never check luggage again.

Shoes? Why do you need shoes? I wore 1 pair of flip flops and one pair of sandals and that was only because we went to Zozo's for dinner and I felt that I should not wear flip flops.

I am not planning to bring shoes on this trip, just hiking sandals, flip flops and a pair of dressy sandals for dinner. This is my list so far:
2 skirts-casual
capris
shorts
2 long sleeved extra light spf shirts-hiking
long sleeved cotton white shirt
white hoodie coverup
forum tshirt
white tshirt
black tshirt
bathing suit
black dress
hat
flip flops
tevas
black sandals

Intentions are good but haven't packed yet.

I take more than one swimsuit. I have a thing about putting on a damp suit. And they don't take up much space.

I took two bathing suits, but only wore one.

It had plenty of time to dry between beach trips, and the villa was so private that I never needed one for the pool!
