Last December we wore our coats and such to the airport. Once at the airport, and right before giving our luggage to the airline, we stuffed our coats and stuff inside them.

On the way home, before leaving STJ, we packed our coats and stuff on the top of our checked luggage and once getting to our last airport and retrieving our bags, we pulled our winter coats out.

Worked fine...just hated having to put them on. :D

LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS!

We leave from Boston in December.

I wear clogs that I can easily slip off once in STT and replace with flip-flops.

I wear a t-shirt or tank-top and a heavy hoodie with a BIG scarf- big enough to be used as a good shawl. The hoodie and scarf are stuffed into the carry-on once in STT.

I wear long pants but try to pick a lighter material like the thin jeans material or carpenter pants that roll up and button into capris.

Out of the four years that we went, only one year was actually really freakin cold when heading to the airport. The others were surprisingly warm for December in Boston!

I don't remeber what the weather was like on the way back from the airport. I was in back-to-reality shock  .

Whenever I go somewhere warm and it's cold here, I wear either jeans or roll-up cargo pants, a tank or t-shirt with a cardigan, and always flip flops. The one time that I had a coat with me, I really regretted it. Of course, I also have the advantage of a small airport, where we park close and don't have to walk much.

MB - We leave from PHL airport (don't you?) in February and usually wear capris or khakis/cargos that can be rolled up upon arrival. Same pants on the return. Short-sleeved shirt under a cotton cardigan on the plane then I just tie the cardigan around my shoulders or waist on arrival. Slip-on lightweight sneakers, no socks. Can always change to flip flops later if necessary.

Don't know what you do for parking at the airport, but I know this was discussed in a previous thread about using either Winner or Pacifico Airport Valet service. A great thing at a good price. We'll usually leave our coats in the car at drop-off and we pay the extra $10 to be able to just get in the car and drive home as opposed to taking the driver back.

I make sure whoever is driving us down the airport has their heat on :o)

No way I'll get bundled up. Will tough it out with shorts, tshirt and a sweat jacket (have to bring that because husband likes the A/C on high)...flip flops and that's it.

I hate winter!!!!!!

We wear light pants and a light long sleeve jacket that can roll up to minimal space once in the tropics. Boots and winter coats and sometimes pull over warmup pants stay in the car at the airport.

We pretty much tough it, but we haven't traveled in the dead of winter either. We have had to use a taxi service the last couple of times so we get dropped off/picked up at the door. They don't sound as if the ladies think they are very fashionable, but I love the zip off pants. My husband and I both wear them. Topped with a tee and a hoodie or cardigan and I good to go. Then just zip and peel off and throw in the backpack. Unless there were to be a ton of snow, I wear my Teva's. I might bring some socks for the plane because I always get cold.
Going "home" again October 26th!

I'll give you my honest "guy" response: I don't think or worry about it until 5 minutes before I leave for the airport, then I pick out something in-between thats mildly out-of-place in both climates. This generally works for me, but last year my luggage was lost and I spent the first evening at the Beach Bar in long khaki pants and a long dress shirt.

I wear light weight slacks, cotton sweater set, and flip flops, and I bring my columbia fleece jacket that doubles as a pillow or blanket on the flight and I can stick it in the outside pocket of my suitcase when we land. I also leave a coat in the car at philly airport :)

This will be the first time I am going to STJ when it is cold. I took the advice from one of the SOTB girls. I will wear nylon shorts and a t-shirt underneath a nylon sweatsuit. I will strip off the long clothes on the plane and wa la! 8)
In case it is even colder when I return I will have my husband bring a winter coat for me.

Luckily, when I am dropped off at the airport it is right at the door.
