Denver Festivities

Post by RickG »

Only slightly OT, Sweet Christine (NoTanLines) and I are enjoying our annual migration to Denver for the Great American Beer Fest. The city is packed and all of the sessions are sold out. We were carousing around Ft. Collins, Boulder and Denver yesterday visiting breweries and friends. I was wearing my Jolly Dog "Dog is my Co-Pirate" t-shirt. I rarely get so many comments, people really got a kick out of it. Who knew there so many irreverent pirate fans out there!?

Today is the big day of the Fest - they announce the awards for the competition. Sweet Christine and I have our first ever entry in the Pro-Am competition, against 47 other entries. We made a Franconian Kellerbier (think rustic pale lager with white peppery Spalter hops) brewed with uber-brewer Bill Madden from Vintage 50 in Leesburg Virginia. We'll know more by 2PM today.

Cheers, RickG

No luck on that medal. I heard from a judge that we were on the table of 8 at the end, but fell off pretty early. All of the winning beers were West coast style hop monsters. Oh well, we'll just have to drink the rest ourselves. They did run through all 15 gallons of the beer we sent.

So, we drowned our sorries last night at the Cruise Room. This morning I have Beefeater poisoning. For some reason, I smell like a Juniper berry.

Jorge, I think a drive through MILF bar is a great idea. Ron_L, are you in? I figure a location near the barge dock so that people coming on island can pick up their pre-ordered groceries and liquor on the way to their villa would work.

Cheers, RickG

LMG, good to see you back on the forum! I think Colorado's 100 breweries can keep up with your needs! ;)

Hey Rick- Yes, school and work have taken over lately. I try to pop in as much as I can. It's okay though, if I'm in school again I can pretend I'm in college again and well, the beer just fits right in, doesn't it? :)
