Hello!!!!!

Post by Sharkbait »

Boy, am I glad to have found this forum. I have been looking or something like this for months.

We are heading down for Thanksgiving Week. Staying @ the Cinnamon Bay Campground in one of the cabins. Not sure if I'm too keen on camping but GF really wants to do this. This will be our first extended stay on STJ, though we have done a couple of day trips from STT.

Renting a Jeep on STT and taking the car ferry over. Plan to do lots of Diving,Snorkeling, and exploring.
Hope you guys don't mind a bunch of questions, I will try to use the search feature as much as possible.

Look forward to talking to you all in the future.

You'll have a blast. Check out the newbie's guide to STJ that I wrote for my families' trip last November. It is mostly still relevant (Texaco is gone).

Cinnamon Bay is a great spot for a first visit. The cabins there are quite rustic, but the beach location cannot be beat by $10 Million villas. Its very nice that you'll have the vehicle. Make certain to hit Coral Bay to get some exposure to the funky side of things.

Cheers, RickG

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Great guide there Rick, very thorough. Definitely will make it over to Coral Bay. Have to check out the legendary "Skinny Legs". She may have talked me into camping, but I draw the line at cooking while camping. :)

Yeah, when we spent the day @ Cinnamon Bay a couple of years ago we fell in love with it. I remember bobb'n in the water, looking around and thinking how sureal it was. Almost like being placed in a post card. We have done some traveling in the Caribbean and the Bahama's but have never seen anything quite so stunning. Funny thing is that after a little research, Cinnamon looks to be just one of many such places on St John. Pretty geeked about this upcoming trip.

Cinnamon Bay Camps...

Post by parafins »

Welcome home Sharkbait! I thought I would give you a tip when staying at the campground. The campground offers mini fridges @ $5.00 a day.I sure beats buying ice all the time. You have to ask for it for there was no sign up when we stayed there back in June of 2006.And don't forget to night snorkel :D Parafins..

Already getting great pointers. Thanks Parafins for the mini fridge tip. Definitely will check into that. One of the things I've been thinking about for our trip is coolers and ice situation, mini fridge would help alot.

Would have to try night snorkeling by myself. Tried to get GF to night dive while in Cozumel and she was having nothing of it. Something about claustrophobia.

Was wondering how feasible shore diving would be from Cinnamon Bay. Have heard that the snorkeling is pretty good out by the Cay and thought shore diving could be fun and convenient from our camp. If the boat traffic isn't too heavy through there.
