non-greasy face sunscreen

Post by sea-nile »

All of this talk about skin cancer and sunscreen made me want to post this question.
Maybe it has been answered before, but I can't find it.

Anyway, I have oily skin like a teenager at the ripe old age of Forty-something.... and most sunscreens that are for faces are greasy and can give me zits.
I use spf 15 oil of olay and that is fine around here, but in STJ it really does not work because it is not very waterproof.
I only have 25 days to find something now! :D
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

OK, try living on STJ being 40 (something) with really oily skin  so here you go -

http://www.dermstore.com/product_Sunfor ... 9_4688.htm

http://www.dermstore.com/product_Sunfor ... r_7003.htm

This product is very, very good - I swim with it, it is non oily and when I get home it is still on my face even (you can see it on the washcloth after you cleanse) They have 3 different shades - used to be only 2 - I have one of the natural ones, as I read the "clear" can be too white on some people and the one I use (don't remember which one of the 2 others, I can check if you like) is alittle dark for me so I was thinking about ordering the clear and mixing.

It is quite expensive but you can get the refills and alittle goes a long way - and it does last.

The whole Dermstore website is an excellent place to order all of your beauty needs - and a little tip, once you have registered, go to your favourite products and add them to your favourite list that you can create and you will get an automatic 10% off if you order by making your selections from your favourites page (hope that makes sense :) )

I bought the CVS brand "for faces" for DJ and it works very well. It stays on in the water and does not look greasy on the skin. I think it did give him a (very) few blemishes, but he uses Pro Activ every night, so by morning his skin was clear. It also comes in a nice carry on size.

I use this:

http://www.clinique.com/templates/produ ... D=PROD9705

when I am not swimming, and this:

http://www.clinique.com/templates/produ ... ID=PROD548

When I am in the water. I always reapply as soon as I get out, and if I am going to loll around in the water after snorkeling, I get out and reapply, then get back in the water.

Another good thing to do is to wear a ballcap in the water for extra shade.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I've been using Neutrogena for years (spf 55 or 70?) Not greasy and stays on while swiming. But I do reapply after snorkeling. And I always have a hat on at the beach.

By the way, I just called my Doctor to get an appointment. Time flyes and of course it's been over a year. Thanks you, Forum - for the 'wake up call'.

Pia,

We arrive 2 weeks from today! Yippee! Will be there until Oct. 30.

I can't wait to get the sunblock. I think it will work wonders when I play tennis as well.

See ya'll soon.

I like the white zinc oxide. It seems to work really well.

Bullfrog sunscreen is non-oily/greasy. It is a quick drying gel.

I have very sensitive skin on my face- break outs all over the place with greasy stuff- and Bullfrog never casused a one.

I've used the gel form and the spray-on gel form. Awesome protection!! I don;t even think I had to re-apply.

And you can use it for the entire body- no having to cart around two different kinds of sunscreen.

Obaji 35.
It's a great sunscreen and never ever clogs me or makes me break out.
