Sandy Spit

Post by daffy2 »

Hi everybody,

We will be in St John the first week of November and are thinking about taking the ferry over to Jost Van Dyke. Is there any way we could get over to Sandy Spit from Jost? Anyone who regularly takes people over from the bars, maybe? We were hoping to spend most of the day on White Bay and were also wondering if you thought there would be enough time to visit Sandy Spit too, givin the confines of going back and forth on the ferry?

Thanks

Never been to Sandy Spit – but White Bay has to be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. I bet if you talk to someone at one of the bars, you might be able to arrange a ride. Good luck.

You can get to SS from Jost but I'm not sure how you would get there.

Most of the "locals" don't really go there - it is just a tiny peice of sand and nothing to do - so it's more of a tourist place to go - beautiful and one of my fav places so don't get me wrong, but the people that go there to visit are usually on private day charters and that is one of their stops - unusual to be able to add yourself to a charter.

You may find someone who will do it but I wouldn't count on it - good luck

Took Dolphin Shuttle from STJ to JVD this past Sunday.

11 people went over to White Bay and at some point throughout the day the captain took some folks over to Sandy Spit. I think it was like $20pp and they were gone a few hours. I didn't go, so I lost track.

Thanks all :D

Looks like we'll take the ferry over and take our chances. If it doesn't happen, I'm sure we'll enjoy the day on White Bay.
