I'll be hittin' the beach in November

Post by Ksea »

Didn't think it was possible, but it looks like Im back to the beach (Virginia Beach that is) in November.
Mr. Ksea, Jr. was selected by his Equestrian Team Coach to represent Loudoun County in the State Games.
This will be his second time there. Last time he brought home 2 Silver medals...we are hoping for a Gold this year!
The beach will be chilly, but who cares, its the beach.

Thanks FF and Coden. Hey Coden, I notice you are interested in the girls trip next year. Where in KY are you? I spent many a summer with my Grandmother in Pikeville. Not near any big town that I can remember, but maybe you know!

Ksea - I'm a long way from Pikeville. If you look at a map, I am 62 miles due north of Nashville, TN. I'm only about 27 miles from the border.

My neighbor is from Pikeville and goes there quite regularly to visit her parents. I bet you all know some of the same people.

Ksea,
Like Coden, we live in Ky too. My husband has family from Pikeville. We live in Lexington ... about 2 hours away from Coden and 3 hours away from Pikeville.

Small world Coden and KY Girl! I have not been back to Pikeville since my Grandmother died on Christmas Day 1991. One day I will take Ksea, Jr there and tell him the story of the Hatfields and the McCoys! My people were McCoys.

Congrats to Mr. Ksea, Jr - what an honor! I never rode but I always love to watch these events. Keep us up to date on how he does. As for Virginia Beach in November...just close your eyes and pretend you see palm trees, white sand and blue water!

Wow ... it is a small world!! My husband's family is "kin" to both the Hatfield's and the McCoy's    His grandfather went back and forth between the two families back during the feud.
BTW Congratulations to Mr. Ksea Jr., and have fun at the beach!!!

KyGirl...Im sure there are lots of Hatfield-McCoys out there! My grandmother's grandmother( i think that's right) was Dolly McCoy. Famous for shootin at the Hatfields! Hope she didnt hurt anyone on your husband's side! Well, as a McCoy, I say stop the feudin and lets all go to STJ and drink moonshine on the beach.

ps - thanks for the well wishes for Mr. Ksea, Jr. I'll keep y'all posted!

I'm in for a little moonshine on the beach as well. :D

Ksea - if you ever do get to Kentucky, come on over to my neck of the woods and visit Mammoth Cave. It is the largest cave system in the world. Many people come from around the world to visit it. It is only 30 mins from where I live. Mr Ksea, Jr would love to stay in Wigwam Village. It is a motel and all of the rooms are concrete wigwams...something quirky to do for sure!

Come on down...Kentucky is a great place to visit!!

I will be sure to tell you when we are headed for KY. We always used to drive to Pikeville since there is no airport near by, Its a long hard drive round and round the mountains. Maybe we could fly to Lexington and rent a car. Would love to visit those caves too!
