villa questions again

Post by suzi »

Hey Forum folks- Narrowing down our search for summer 2008. We def want to stay in Great Cruz Bay/Maria bluff area. Amani, Hali Lani ( they are next door to each other) Villa Villekula, Ciellodonna, and Southern Cross. Does anyone know if Southern Cross and Ciellodonna are in this area? It looks like it from the pics.the homes over by Choc Hole, are they pretty much in the shade in the afternoon? thanks for any info./comments, etc.

Suzi,

I'm staying at Hale Lani next week, and if you can wait a week, I'm sure I'll have plenty of commentary. I know it's only been on the rental market for a few months and there has only been one review -- which was favorable -- so far.

I'm not sure we can beat the vacation, view or price, but I'll keep you posted.

Ciellodonna is on the West side of Chocolate Hole. My sister looked at it and liked it. It gets morning sun and will have sun on the pool deck until the sun moves behind the hill behind the house - timing depends on time of year probably 4PM-5PM. No sunset views. I don't know what impact the Pond Bay construction will have. But, I'm staying away from Chocolate Hole for a while.

Cheers, RickG

We are staying at Hale Lani in November. I will post a detailed report upon my return. IMHO, it seems like a lot of bang for the buck, but we'll see.

Villa Villekula and Hale Lani were both on our list of finalists for this past trip. I can't say too much about any of the others.

We may never stay anywhere besides Hale Lani ever again. We loved it. Villa Villekula is down on the water and up against a hill, so I'm sure it didn't get the breezes that we got. We were only a five-minute ride to town in our Jeep and had we needed them to, Paradise Taxi would've taken us to Woody's for $5. (We found a driver that night!)

Let me know if you have any questions, but Hale Lani is a total no-brainer to me. The sunsets from the pool are amazing.

Stayed in Ciellodonna last year (December 10-17th). The house was great. We loved opening all the doors to the kitchen/living/dining areas. The deck was awesome, and we caught a meteor shower. Others are right though, there are no sunset views, and th epool gets NO late afternoon sun. That was a priority for us this year, because we love coming back from the beaches for a freshwater dip. Only issues we had were a leaky air conditioner in one bedroom that caused us to move out of that bedroom. It made the "drip-drip-drip" chinese water torture sound at night and kept me awake. Luckily, we just moved downstairs to another bedroom.

All in all, it was very nicely furnished and appointed. We enjoyed the big shower, the little boom box, the grill, and a short walk down the hill to Chocolate hole to explore (though we didn't go in for a dip there.)

We liked it, and would have stayed there again this year, but chose a villa with a WEST facing pool.

Looks like the Pond Bay Club project received the green light last week.

"Construction will now begin in earnest at the Pond Bay Club site...."
