Over the years the trend on STJ has been toward rental cars getting larger, more closed-in, AC.

I have always prefered the more wide open Suzuki Sidekicks and Vitaras with the flip top lid over the front seats and the removeable side and back panels in the back. Those type vehicles have just about disappeared. Penns for example has a nice new fleet of Vitaras, but all enclosed and AC.

Does any STJ rental have any of the older open cars still around? STT?

We also preferred the smaller cars but for our trip in January the Jeep Wrangler is the smallest and most open vehicle that we could find at either St John Car Rental or Conrad Sutton.

Word on the street is they have been phased out due to market demand for more 'comfortable' cars. Personally, I'm with you and prefer the open air versions.

Check with Cool Breeze. I had one in May and they had plenty. I have another on reserve in November. Cool Breeze is OK but their cars tend to be a little beat up. The good side is insurance is included in the rental price and they are not to picky when you return the car.
