speaking of lists

Post by mbw1024 »

I'm making a list, checking it twice, that I'm going to send to Ruth before we arrive. This will be things we need just for our week at the villa. On it so far are coffee, CBGR, my favorite mango jam.
What else?

I'm thinking if I order ahead Ruth can just toss it down to me when I get off the ferry :)
Not that I asked Ruth to do this yet.

Mary Beth - I just tried the mango jam the other day!!! Yummmmm!

If you like mustard and might be eating sandwiches, get some of the St. John Spice garlic champagne mustard - it's nice!!!!

Also if you like curry, try the St. John Spice curry and also the Sunny Caribbee curry.

Oh and the playing cards Ruth sells that have different drink concoctions on each one are fun!!!

Okay Ruth - where's my commision??? Hehehe - just kidding

May I recommend some Carnival jam tea? It makes heavenly iced tea. I steep a bunch of it with one regular tea bag, chill and add come sqeezed lime. It is one of my new favorite non rum drinks!

MB, you are not taking the ferry on the way in . Ruth will have to toss it down to your water taxi.
Going "home" again October 26th!

I saw Bruce in '76 for four bucks at a little concert hall in Orlando - held maybe 1500 people.

I didn't know what to expect but they blew me away.

The next time I saw him it was in a stadium with 70K people - quite a change!

Hey MaryBeth, Ruth sells a spice just called "fish spice" if you are planning on cooking any fish--I'd recommend it. It's a little spicy and very flavorful. She also has this stuff called "super spice" which I really like on chicken.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Bruce's performance at the first post-Katrina Jazz Fest brought tears to so many people's eyes (including mine) and also uplifted the crowd and had everyone dancing. We REALLY needed that at that time.

I think it had to be the BEST Jazz Fest performance I have ever seen (this coming from a HUGE Dave Matthews Band fan who has seen them play three times at the Fest).

And to think I almost opted to go watch whoever was on the other big stage. Thank goodness I stayed to watch Bruce.

MB - You talking to me?

Nothingtolose - There was a great quote in the Aug. 10 issue of Entertainment Weekly about that from Quint Davis, the producer of Jazz Fest:

''The Springsteen thing was really the heart and soul of the festival. To have the artistry to get up on that stage in front of those people — the most devastated audience you could ever get in front of — and minister to that pain... He's up there singing 'When the Saints Go Marching In' and he sings 'My City of Ruins' and everybody's got their hands up and everybody's crying. I mean, what Bruce Springsteen did that day was amazing. Amazing.''

When I read that, I remembered your eyewitness account of that performance from a previous post you made.

EW photo from that show:

Also, those of you who may have Sirius Satellite Radio, check out the return of E Street Radio, a music channel dedicated to the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, which will premiere later today September 27th at 6 pm ET, on Sirius channel 10.

In addition to playing his catalog, it will feature archival concert recordings dating from early 1973, behind-the-scenes insights from band insiders, and fans will also have the opportunity to submit their favorite live recordings of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concerts, and selected submissions get the chance to guest host a show on E Street Radio.
Enjoy.

I just hope there's not a Yankee playoff game on the night that I'm going to the Arena...it would be a Game 5. Go Yanks!
