Swimsuit question
Swimsuit question
This question is probably more for women. It's kind of dumb, and I'll admit that up front, but I wanted to ask.
I know that it is taboo to wear your swimsuit as clothing, and I didn't really have any plans to do that. I'll be fine when I'm just taking a trip to the beach and such, but what I didn't know is when I am on other expeditions. For example, I just saw someone's trip photos from a day trip to Jost and they had swimsuits under their clothes. I also have that Reef Bay hike through the park service planned for one day.
Is it best just to wear my swimsuit under my clothes on those days? I am not a big fan of that, but I didn't know where there would be places to change and things like that for those types of excursions.
Any thoughts folks have on this would be helpful as I am figuring what clothes to pack.
Also, if anyone who has done that Reef Bay hike could PM me, I'd appreciate it. I have questions about that too.
Thanks so much. Y'all are lifesavers!

Hi Lulu, yes, just wear your swimsuit under your clothes. There's no place to change at the bottom of the Reef Bay trail. OK, that's not true there is an outhouse but from what I understand it is pretty ooky in there.
Lots of people boat into Jost so it makes sense to have your suit on already since you have to swim into shore (not the case if you are taking the ferry, obviously.)
I did the (guided, so downhill only) Reef Bay hike in June if you want to pm me your questions, I'd be happy to help if I can.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Oh Lulu, how much you miss.Lulu76 wrote:I also like my suit and didn't see the point in buying a new one...)

On a serious note, I ALWAYS wear my suit under a little pull on lightweight summer dress. So convenient, easy and breezy. I can see what you mean about the one peice. My advice is to get you to the store ASAP and see if they have any bikinis left!

Lulu, my sister and I wear 1 piece suits for obvious reasons...we either wore a little dress (ok a mumu of sorts) over our suits, or quick dry shorts and a tank top. For a new 2 piece, check eBay. Sellers have brand new ones for sale. Or check on line clearance sales at department stores. You prob only need 2. Wash one while you are in the shower and hang to dry over night. That works for the quick dry shorts too!

Click on "clearance" in the red bar at the top, then scroll down to "Deal Finder" on the left and choose "swim & beyond" from the drop down list. They have 108 suits on sale for as little as $6.99. I've ordered from this company before and I can vouch for the quality of their clothing.

Reef Bay Trail
Hi Lulu,
Hubby and I did the Reef Bay Trail last summer just the two of us. The last part was quite a hike! PM me with questions.

OK, so I searched everywhere for a swimsuit. I did find one on that web site that CG posted, and I hope it could get here in time.
However, as I drug my friend from store to store scouring clearance racks last night, she mentioned to me that she couldn't imagine hiking in a swimsuit all day because there just wouldn't be enough support, to put it politely.
That is one of my bigger concerns too. I am not a small girl and I can't imagine going around all week in a swimsuit without any support. I haven't really seen a two-piece that would be any better in this department than the two one-piece suits I have.
(On the plus side, I'd forgotten that my one-piece does have removable straps which would make it much easier to go to the bathroom and such.)
