Football--where to watch?

Post by liamsaunt »

I just know this has already been discussed here, and I did try to search, but I must be doing something wrong--I inputted "NFL" and got the "Ted is no Longer at Tage" thread. I tried "football" and got the "Show your Face" thread.

Anyway...we are going to be on island for the October 14th Patriots game. I am trying to think of a place to watch it, since I know John is going to want to. Skinny Legs seems obvious, but the game is at 4:15, and the thought of driving back from Coral Bay in the dark after a couple of drinks is really not appealing.

We are staying at Gallows, so I thought someplace in Cruz Bay would be a better choice. So, does anyone know where football games are shown in Cruz Bay? I honestly can't remember where, if anywhere, I have seen televisions in town. TV's not normally on my radar screen while on island. Thanks! :D

You could go to Woodys.
They have a T.V and we always watch some type of sporting event when we are in their, depending on the time of year.

The only games that they carry in the US Virgin Islands as far as football goes, are the Philadelphia Eagles....sorry people

Quiet Mon has a Dish and a TV, but Connie is correct, all they show is the Eagles. (at least when I am there ;) )

Ha ha Connie and Mr. B! I was actually born in Philadelphia, and my parents are still huge Eagles fans. They usually go down for a game once per year—last year my Mom actually wore one of those goofy looking foam eagle heads for the entire game! My Dad has been threatening to come to our house and stake one of those huge inflatable balloons shaped like an Eagles player in our yard for a couple of years now.

Susan, even though you will be at Caneel, you will probably still be able to watch your game if you want to. The renovated beach bar/casual dining section has three flat screen TVs in it.

Bug, yes there are TVs in the units at Gallows, but I was thinking it might be more fun to watch the game with a group. There's no common bar/eating area at Gallows with TVs.

Did you see this old review:

http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/s ... 1442.shtml

I searched on NFL in the upper right search box - not the forum only search with the magnifying glass above. The Woody's brothers are Pat's fans - no??

Anyway - I hope you enjoy the game - unfortunately I am a...

OK "Buttercup", that takes care of the Pats, what about the Sox, assuming they are still playing?
Gonna be tough watching it on a 12 inch Gallows TV after HD at home.

I just went and looked at the standings, and it's not looking like I have to worry about baseball season much longer. :?

We watched the Super Bowl at Compass Rose @ Pastory Gardens. Being that it was the Super Bowl, the place was jammed, but assuming that they show other games, I think it would be a nice setting for a casual dinner and the game.

I've been wondering about this myself. I want to watch the Sox play when I'm down there. Looks like I'll be at Woody's :D

No offence,[ no pun intended] but, why would a Patriot fan that wanted to watch the game go any where other then Skinny's?

I mean really, you can get back to "town" from Skinny's. After all, you're going against the traffic.
Really, Liamsaunt, Skinny's is a great place to watch a Pats game from a Pats' fan point of view. However from a Skins' fan viewpoint....

jmq you wise guy, you know there is no post-season discussion of baseball in advance! At least not by this overly cautious Sox fan! :P

JT, yes, I am very familiar with Skinnys and how fun it can be for a fan of the New Englad teams. We'll definitely be there at some point. However, I thought it would be more prudent to go to a place closer to town. Against the traffic or no, I prefer to err on the cautious side when it comes to football, adreneline, and beer. :D
