I'm A New Guy Around Here
Finally got myself registered and am very excited to ask a ton of "newby" questions.
Our first trip to St. John is coming up in March. We're staying at Oleander villa and arrive on Easter sunday. Right now most of my questions revolve around what will be open on Easter (groceries, liquor and liquor).
We've been going to the Tulum Akumal area for the last few years and have always wanted to try St. John, so this is our year.

I can't help you with the Easter details but I do want to say welcome to the group! You are going to absolutely adore STJ and you have plenty of time between now and Easter to gather all the info you'll need to make the most of your time on island... have fun planning!
"By the time we hit Miami, the cell phones will ring and life as we know it will draw us back in, so tonight we will just continue to soak in the sounds, the sights, the tastes and the feelings of St. John."
I like the Tulum and Akumal areas. Xpuha is one of my favorite beaches. But, on St. John you can swim or drive in a few minutes between amazing beaches. That's the thing about St. John, 8 miles long and 52 beaches.
Check out the newbie guide to St. John I wrote for our families' trip last November. It will give you some general hints. It is mostly still current, except the Texaco is/will be gone.

Welcome! We traveled to the Riviera Maya area many times before finally heading to St. John for a first week long trip. I love the Riviera Maya area including Akumal, but St. John is my favorite now. There is just something about the island. Hope you have a wonderful first trip!
Rick's guide for newbie's is a great help!

Thanks everyone!
Rick, that is a great first-timers guide.
We have been traveling with our friends (wife's cousin and husband) for 20 years, back to when we were newlyweds. First just two couples, then with kids, now we've come full circle to where we're getting away just the four of us. (Kids wouldn't want to see us naked in the pool anyway

Welcome
I think you can check with your rental agent and sometimes they will give you a list and you can have your refridgerator stocked for you for when you arrive
Its a extra charge but worth it
at least they could get you stocked with the liqour and essentials until after Easter
Just a thought
Your gonna LOVE stjohns
