Blast from the Past: Fudgsicle Recipe
Blast from the Past: Fudgsicle Recipe
For those of you who might fondly remember the heavenly low-calore
concoction that was made in the soft serve ice cream machine at the beach bar at the now closed STT resort formerly known as the Grand Beach (and known by a few other names, as well) or for my fellow Chocaholics that might not have ever had the pleasure: I came across some old, old trip folders today and discovered the bartender's recipe. We used to even stop for one of these to go on our way to the Red Hook ferry when we were staying on STJ. Yummmmmmm...our blender will be a'whirring tonight ...
Fudgsicle:
2 Parts Hersheys Chocolate Syrup
2 Parts Coco Lopez
12 Parts Milk
1 Part Creme de Banana
2.5 Parts Dark Rum (like Myers)
1.5 Parts Creme de Cocoa (dark)
Add ice and blend to a milk-shake consistency. Grate some dark chocolate over the top, if you dare...
Enjoy!!

Yep, that works. The bartender measured most of the ingredients in gallon jugs as he was loading the ice cream machine for huge batches so he had to give it to us in "parts". Made them last night - they were great! As I was drinking it I thought of a variation - omit the creme de banana and, instead of 12 parts milk, do 6 parts milk and 7 parts Bailey's Caramel. Maybe sub in some caramel topping for some of the Hersheys, too - have to try and let everyone know - next weekend! If anyone does any other variations, please share!

Margo, when you put it like that I get it! Elizabeth may be getting to be a great cook but I got a deck of cards from Ruth that has a different drink recipe on every card! I am getting really good!
