Thanksgiving Day Dinner

Does anyone have any ideas of an interesting Thanksgiving Dinner in ST John? It will just be my husband and I. It can be a really beautiful restaurant or a turkey sandwich, pumpkin pie and beers at a really secluded, beautiful spot on the island. We are up for anything.

I believe that Skinn'y does a Thanksgiving Dinner for anyone interested. Everyone brings a side dish and they do the Turkey. What a great day that would be!!!

We've done Thanksgiving dinner a couple of times on STJ. Last year I brought frozen cooked turkey that I had deboned. It was good defrosted and warmed in a foil covered pan with some chicken broth added. Everyone made sides and we had a fun time.

If you don't want to cook there are a number of restaurants open. Pia mentioned that she took a big family group to the Banana Deck for a Thanksgiving Buffet. My parents have liked the Fish Trap (I'm not a big fan) since they had a traditional Thanksgiving plate as well as their usual menu.

Skinny Legs is closed on Thanksgiving. There's a fellow who cooks a pig and folks bring food to share. It's pot luck and I don't believe there is any fee.

This is what I’d do – Get yourself a live Caribbean Lobster ( Fish Trap Market or the Food Center just outside of Red Hook). Bring is back to the villa and cook that sucker up.

This is the menu:

Grilled Caribbean Lobster with melted lemon herb butter.
Grilled Veggies (Zucchini, Big Onion, Carrots)
Nice bottle of wine.

Dessert:
Section and cut up some orange, grapefruit and mango.
Put into a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Pour a generous amount of Grand Marnier over the top

Sit back and enjoy the surroundings and your love one.

Ok-Bug and RickyG- Skinny's sounds like it could be alot of fun. Do you have to call them and make arrangements or just show up with a side? Banana deck sounds good too.

FlaGeorge-meal sounds wonderful if you would like to come to our villa and plunge that poor lobster into boiling water or cut into it's brain. Don't get me wrong I love lobster but don't have it in me to kill it myself. Hypocritical-yes- but just can't deal with that part.

I was thinking of maybe cooking up a small turkey and finding a nice place to have a quiet picnic with my hubby. Any secluded places you guys are keeping under your hats???

We stayed at a villa last year and had our Thanksgiving day dinner right there. Each person was in charge of bringinig a couple things. We did buy the turkey down there.

None of us will ever forget our Thanksgiving day dinner in paradise!

Does anyone have any suggestions for two for thanksgiving dinner on St. Thomas?? Skinnylegs sounds great, but not sure we want to head over to STJ that day.
