Anniversaries, Jewels, and Pirates????
Anniversaries, Jewels, and Pirates????
Hello Gang,
This is just to cool not to share with all of you. Today is me and hubby's 5th anniversary. He is always a good shopper. But, he is usually a good shopper because I have a wish list at our local jewlery store - if you know what I mean. OK, here's the cool part. Today my hubby gave me my gift and when I opened it up, it was something I didn't pick out. Not only did I not pick it but I had NEVER seen anything like it. WOW ~ is all I could really say. You take a look at the ring I found when I opened the box.....

Holy crap, huh??
I recognized the design of the vine immediately. Actually, I have a couple of pieces that have that very vine. It is created by a designer named Barbara Bixby. She does some incredible stuff. But the pirate skull really shocked me. It seems that the designer actually made the first skull piece for her husband. Apparently, in history, giving someone a skull was for good luck. Imagine that! I had to wear it for a few hours to decide if I really liked it or not. It certainly grew on me. Mr. Bug (Ed) explained to me that he went and looked at that collection because he knew I liked her work. Then, he saw the pirate skull. He thought it fit perfectly with the STJ, ocean, pirate theme which I love so much. So, he went out on a whim and bought it. I'm still not sure I could wear this ring to a cocktail party or event like that but I now love my ring. Not only did my honey remember our special day but he thought OF me. He thought of the things that I like ~ the designer, the collection, the pirate stuff. What an awesome guy I have!
So, now with all that said....What the heck to you think of that ring???? You should see the faces I get when I show it to people. Then when I tell them it was an anniversary gift. They all think I should leave my hubby. If they only knew!!!

And for the Flower on the forehead...I really have not idea except she does use these flowers in a lot of her designs. I will actually get to meet her in December at an open house so I will surely be asking her

Bug, You could always wear it to the Hell's Angels or Warlocks Bikers Ball
Just kidding. It was sweet of him and he put a lot of thought into the gift. Who cares what others think.
Happy Anniversary! Ours is today- 6 years. We promised we would celebrate later because we have to work a lot this weekend.

It is time to start thinking about Halloween. You've got part of your costume to build on.
Seriously, it was very sweet of him to go to so much effort to find something that is unique and special to you. It's not the kind of ring you could wear to a cocktail party or wedding, but it would be perfect for STJ and places like that.
Is that diamonds in the eye sockets??? I've been married so long I'd be thinking "how much did he pay that this and what could I get with that much money that I really like". But I'm way to sinical.

It certainly is unique! Jewelry is so personal, who cares what anyone else thinks. If it suits you, then that's all that matters. I think it's great that he spent the time to find you something nice that's your style.
I'm wondering, do you think the rose on the skull is a grateful dead reference? Wasn't their logo a rose covered skull? Not sure on that...

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
