Bad news

Post by Bill in Va »

Tough to type this.....Cancer has come back into our lives after 13 years. Back then it took our only child. Sandie, my wife, was diagnosed with breast cancer in July. Had surgery and reconstruction on July 18th. 7 hours. Good news was no lympth node involvement. Yesterday the oncologist recommended chemo and oral chemo. 4 treatments spaced three weeks apart. It is a numbers game. No way we could not do it. Tough part was the realization that our Dec trip was not going to happen. We were planning a celebration of our son's life on what would have been his 40th birthday Dec 11th. Some of his ashes are on Sandy Cay. We will get through this bump in the road. We see two footprints in the sand some days and know who is carrying us and look forward the the day when we will be walking hand in hand leaving OUR two sets of foot prints on the beaches of St John. Many thanks to those who have been praying for Sandie. It really helps...God bless..Bill

Bill you are in my prayers You would be suprised what we can indure The week inbetween my wifes chemo treatments she liked to go to STJ. She would look so tired getting on the plane I would always wonder why she wanted to do this but when the doors would open up after touch down she was a new woman.

Bill, I just read your post and was too choked up to make a reply. When I returned to the main page, I noticed several views of your posts but only 1 reply, which is what prompted me to return and make a reply. I am so, so very sorry for you and your wife. Of course, you must do what is in the best interest of your wife's health but how disappointing not to be able to keep your December trip to celebrate your son's life. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Ali~

Words seldom help in a situation like this. Knowing that we are, somehow, at your side during this might help. If there is something more specific that any of us could do you only need to ask.

Bill - I was scared to open your post and now know why. I was so sorry to hear about Sandie. Let's hope that the chemo (as rough as it will be on her) gets rid of it for good.

Ya'll will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.

Bill,

You and your wife are in my thoughts and prayers. I lost my only sibling 6 years ago and I see what it has done to my parents (and myself). I hope once your wife has a clean bill of health you will take that wonderful trip you have planned.

Bill,
I'm sorry to have read about your wife, I was really looking forward to meeting both of you on the trip in Dec. If there is anything you want me to bring back from Ruth, just let me know. I live just down the road from you and we can meet up. You will be in our prayers and if you let me know your favorite spot on St. John I'll bring back some photos for you to tie you over until you can get back.

Bill & Sandie- Be strong for each other, stay positive for each other!

It's amazing what a positive attitude, even a forced one on a bad day, can do for the mind-the body-the spirit.

Bill and Sandie -

You are in my thoughts and prayers as well. I am so sorry you will need to cancel your upcoming trip and the special occasion that would have brought you to St. John again. Please be strong and get well soon - the island will be there awaiting your next visit.
