Hello there....Cruz views?

Post by Vega »

Hi there,
Been on this forum a number of times in the old format, but not since it changed over to the new format. Anyhow, heading back to St. John first week of Oct. and was wondering if anyone out there has any input on Cruz Views. Been to St. John twice in the last 4 years (once for our wedding, and once for an anniversary) and have done villas both times. Thought we might stay in town and forego the jeep rental, as our trip is a quick in and out over a longish weekend. While on the topic of cruz views, can anyone tell me where they are exactly?? We know the island very well so simple directions should help us locate the condos fairly easily. Also, any other 'in town' or other walking distance recommendations are certainly welcome.
Thanks a ton for all of your input!
Cheers!

We'll be staying at C V the beginning of November our third stay there. For the price we love it. Go past Dolphin Market on centeline theres a sharp turn to the left leaving town, go straight up the hill instead of the left on centerline you'll see the sign for Cruz Views. I believe the road name is pocketmoney rd. Warning about the hill it's a steep one I had no problem with it my wife says never again. If you want to save on a jeep, walk down the hill to get a taxi then on the ride back from the beach just tell your driver to drop ya off at Cruz Views, was just 4 bucks more a year ago.

Gallows Point and Gallows Point SeaView, Star Villas, Far Horizons, and Casa Blanca are all within EASY walking distance. Star Villas has a nice selection of accommodations.

We stayed at Cruz Views for 8 nights in April (2 adults). We were in #9 which was nice. It was clean and comfortable. We never heard anyone next door the whole week. We never did use the pool but it looked nice.
The negatives were:
1-the ac in #9 was not great, it kept the humidity out but it really wasn't cool. We slept with two fans circulating at night. It was fine for me but my husband likes it really cool. I have read that you can't expect ac like at home (really cool) at STJ.
2-the construction from the development across the hill was noisy during the day. It really didn't bother us because we were gone most of the day and we are early risers.

I have read that unit 10 is the best one.

The pluses were:
1-close to town but not in the center of it.
2-good view from the deck.
3-quiet in the evening and at night even if there is a party going on at the pool which there was several nights while we were there.
4-clean and the grounds were kept clean also
5-there is grill you can use
6-the shower is great - large enough for two  Gotta conserve water right?

I would stay there again. Hope this helps!

We stayed with Star Villas on our honeymoon-- cause we were imited on the $$$ when we were starting out. They were decent, but you get what you pay for! No real problems renting through them. They were nice to work with, but the accomodations are modest. Walking distane to town -- That HILL is a climb though!!
*Another fine scatterbrained production

Have not seen this personally but always think that it looks nice for the price and location for a couple. It is in town (does not have a pool if that is important to you) and close to everything - I believe it is in the Lumberyard/Chilly Billy area.

You can avoid the hill by walking along the beach to Gallows Point and make a left. It's a nice easy walk. Modest can be good. I know there are those that like to stay longer by what they save on accommodations.

Thanks a bunch for all the responses. After reading through them, we now know where the condos are, seems like a good spot for us. Thanks for all of the other recommendations as well. Gives us lots to consider.

Seeing as we are going sort of last minute during the off season, the cost of acommodation is real reasonable, which explains why we also go off season I guess!

Anyway, thanks again,
Cheers!
