Question for you rum drinkers...

We leave in about two months and I am getting my Mixology order together. The guys will drink beer but the girls will want to make frozen rum drinks in the blender. With that said, I am not sure what type of rum to buy - Cruzan, Captain Morgans, Malibu, etc. Also, would love some suggestions on what type of mixers to order from Mixology - they don't have a list of what they offer on their website.

I am a Cruzan Dark rum girl. It goes great in frozen drinks, painkillers and just with diet coke. It is an all purpose rum.
I think that Malibu, Capt. Morgan, etc have too much flavor and take away from the taste of the drinlk.

plain rum, light or dark and not flavored will be more versatile. I do however like the coconut rum for making a non coco lopez painkiller.

Cruzan Estate .... yum. Is that the same as Dark?

Agreed, Cruzan Dark! Also, Mount Gay is wonderful with coke and lots of rum.

MB- Not the estate, just plain old Cruzan Dark. The Estate tastes a little too much like whiskey for me.

Agreed, Cruzan Dark! Also, Mount Gay is wonderful with coke and lots of rum.

I would like to "third" that Cruzan Dark suggestion! It is the best and most versatile rum that I have found.

I would get both the Cruzan estate dark rum as well as the cruzan coconut rum. As for mixers, get some pineapple juice, orange juice, roses lime juice, diet sprite/sprite, diet coke/coke. You can make some painkillers, Lime & coconuts, rum and coke. Life is good! Cheers, Ali~

Ali is correct. Cruzan dark plus coconut. Would add frozen lemonade to the mixer selection. Mix that with the coconut rum plus pineapple juice. Very tasty. Enjoy.

How about Cruzan Black Strap? I think I tasted it once and it seemed pretty heavy.

If you want a cocnut rum, choose Cruzan Coconut over Malibu or Parrot Bay. Cruzan has a smooth coconut flavor, not too sweet and without that kick of jet fuel taste that Malibu & Parrot Bay have. I always have Cruzan Coconut here at the house.

I'd also reccomend the stand-by Capt Morgan. Vapt&Coke&Lime is a great fallback when you've run out of creativity and just wanna friggin' drink!!

Im a die hard Bacardi light fan...so we got a bottle of that and a bottle of Cruzan dark for Bill. Everyone was happy...too happy sometimes

Yes stick with Cruzan whether it be dark, etc. Don't do Pusser's!! Too strong - overpowers the drink, especially Painkillers!
