AS THE ISLAND TURNS - season finale

Post by msgcolleen »

Tuesday, August 7th

Today we agreed to meet our church friends at Hawksnest Bay @ 9 a.m. to have a full last day of fun. We woke up to rain and it was hard to roll out of bed. To make things go even slower, I accidentally locked my keys in the car the night before and needed to take the other car down to Delbert Hill's and get an extra key. No biggie, right?

Wrong! "We don't have extra keys. I can call our locksmith to follow you back to the villa and open it for you." I could see the dollar signs in his eyes as he told me to wait for the locksmith to show up. I waited, and waited and my cell phone rings. It's Papa saying that one of the windows to the locked car was slightly open enough for him to get a long stick and hit the unlock button. Hooray! Papa saves the day and probably $50 bucks too!

Back to the house and everyone is raring to go! We make it to Hawksnest before 10 a.m. and have a wonderful time swimming, snorkeling and NO lathering up with SUNSCREEN!

What a day! But hunger is calling and half of us wants Woody's and the other half knows there is lots of fish left to eat back at C9. So hubby's half goes to Woody's and my half head to Starfish for fish dinner fixin's plus our first purchase of wine and even a bottle of champagne to toast the anniversaries and a great ending to a memorable family vacation.

In the parking lot of Starfish, our group smelled the most wonderful smell . . .

Candie's barbeque is right across the street! Forget fish sandwiches at the villa! Follow that aroma!

Happy tummies!

Well, all good things must come to an end. Our last supper on the deck wrapped up a great week that went by way too fast!

I won't bore you with the cleaning up, packing up, waking up and the ever so sad walk of woe. I will just leave you with great memories of an island down south that "I GET" and happy to share it with forum friends who GET IT too!

What a great visual trip report! Loved it. BUT, inquiring minds want to know--WHAT is the story behind the dueling donkeys???
