Post by debbiest23 »

Has anyone heard of this place?Or stayed here?

The website is: www.trinidadcharlie.com/cottage.htm

They look really nice and reasonable too.Only 1 mile outside of Cruz Bay Town.

A woman I know stayed there two years ago. She makes yearly trips to STJ and loved it.

I'd never heard of the cottages, but I second MaryBeth's comment--his hot sauces are my favorites.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I have actually been there and seen them first hand. WOW! I have met Charlie, he is super nice!!

I would like to state that it was 3 years ago since I have seen them so there might be changes I am unaware of!!

To get there: When you pull into the lower lot of Pastory Garden there is a dirt road that goes back into the woods. Follow this dirt road until you dead end. At the dead end is Charlie's home.

Note: This is a 1 lane road that is literally cut out of the woods. Very bumpy and no lighting.

Out of the car you proceed into the "jungle" (seriously, that's what it is like), walk across a stream on the rocks, and through the jungle some more to you hit the tents.

The tents ~ best way I can describe them is a wooden frame box with screening all the way around. It has a generator for electric. The shower (which is outside on the deck) is a huge blatter that catches the rain water. You pull the rope and the water comes out. The water is heated by the sun during the day.

They are truely away from modern life as his website says!

If you have any specific questions, you can PM me.

XOXO

You might want to look at Samuel cottages and compare. We stayed there 3 weeks ago and like it.Some road noise but the price is right.Nice views of the ocean.{cottage #3 has the best view.}The folks that run it are very nice and helpful. They are located right of of centerline rd.Near town. Here's a pic of the kitchen at cottage#2.Image

While being in the jungle with Charlie has its allure, I imagine the breezes are better at Samuels'. But, Charlie does some farming and having fresh fruit nearby has an allure. Personally, I'm a big fan of cheaper digs and longer trips.

Cheers, RickG

I love it!!! That bedroom reminds me of my little bedroom at my grandma's house, off in a corner of the living room, with windows just like that. It was only for me, no one else could sleep there. All of my sisters and cousins hated me. Now that I think about it, I was a tiny bit spoiled!

view from samuel.....

This is for USVISUZYQ and or anyone who is interested. It is the view from Samuel cottage#3. Cottage#2 had the same view but with a power/phone line in the way. Cottage#1 I think might of had some view but I would not count on it. We stayed at #2.It included a sleeper sofa, queen size bed,and a twin. We had no problem with skeeters. The windows all had screens. Parafins.Image
