Passport Incorrect...

Post by meleemel »

Well, our trip is only 2 months away, and we received our passports on Friday. The good thing is that it only took about 7 weeks. The bad thing- my son's state of birth is wrong.

Has anyone ever had to deal with this? On their site it says that we need to resubmit a form, 2 pictures, and birth cert. again!

So..we have to pay for their mistake?

Also...we received 4 passports..and at the same time in separate envelopes we also received our birth certificates...only 3! Our son's with the mistake did not come back with all the others?

Any help or tips are appreciated!

Oh no. I would make an appointment to go to your nearest passport office in person. Bring another copy of your son's birth certificate and 2 more photos just in case. I dont think they should make you pay again, however, we had to when the post office delivered Bill's passport to the wrong address! Whoever received it did not contact us so we had to cancel it and start all over. Very frustrating! I would get on it first thing Monday. I hear it takes forever to get someone to answer the phone regarding these problems. Im sure other members here will chime in with their experiences and solutions...good luck to you.

I think that if you resubmit within 30 days you just have to send the passport back with another copy of the birth certificate - which unfortunately, I guess you'll have to get another original from your local vital statistics/registrar's office. Here is the link I found...good luck!

Thanks you both so much. His BC showed up yesterday. I called today and they gave me the directions on how to write the letter. Arghh...however to expedite it we would pay and then request a refund. That did not make much sense to me!

Adrienne...thanks for the link..I missed that!

This past Monday his passport and BC were returned to us corrected via FedEx....I'm impressed with the turnaround.

WHEW! That's completely awesome, considering the backlog at the Passport office! That's one more thing you don't have to worry about! You're going to have a great time! :)
