Tropical Depression in Atlantic
Tropical Depression in Atlantic
Looks like our beloved islands may be seeing a "bit o' weather." Those traveling to the islands over the next few days should take note and plan accordingly... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20244316/

I believe you have to buy before you have made your final payments on the trip. So if you are in a villa and the final is due 30 days before, you have to buy the insurance before that 30 day mark.Steve S wrote:How late in the game can you buy trip insurance?

Talk to FLA George... but generally if you don't buy insurance within a certain time frame after purchasing tickets/securing villa -- you are SOL. But I guess it depends on the insurance company.
MY personal rule is, if you are traveling August through October/November, get trip insurance. While technically hurricane season starts June 1, I haven't seen too many pop up before mid July or beginning of August over the past decade. Likewise, at the end of November is usually OK.
Good luck!

not sure but that sounds very plausible. I would certainly inquire before signing up. Good point.chrisn wrote:Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but in order for a hurricane to be covered, the insurance has to be in effect before the storm is named or is formed. Different companies may have a different policy on this.
Here is another site, I use to track the weather in the Islands. It's great for tracking storms.

That thing is very far off - don't panic yet. Don't know if you all know or not but we run our own <a href="http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/hurric ... >hurricane blog</b></a> and try to keep it very up to date - you can check it out <a href="http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/hurric ... ere</b></a> (you can sign up to receive updates via email there too - and it has an RSS feed too).
Also - as far as trip insurance goes, I would would really appreciate it if you <a href="http://www.csatravelprotection.com/?aff ... <b>checked out our partner CSA</b></a> while you are looking for quotes - buying from them helps support the site and they are really good too -we used them on our recent trip to NJ.
Thanks -

Anthony for Virgin Islands On Line
This is the travel insurance that we used (http://travelinsurancecenter.com/ ), but I’m sure that the envelope that the check came in was from CSA. I will double check tonight.
The deal for us was that we had not made our final payment on the villa yet. I promise – tonight when I get home I will post all the contact info from the company that helped us.
Now – getting back to the weather….
Tonights weather will be dark, with scattered light in the morning.
More light in the afternoon.
Temperature at the airport is – who cares, who live at the airport.
There’s a Low Pressure area in the east and a Low Pressure area in the west.
What this country needs is a big HIGH.
