I love the "fork in the road" on gift hill-- probably because I read "Desiring Paradise." Does anyone have a picture of it? Everytime I pass it I think... what if I could stay here forever?

We also like the "speed hump" sign as you are leaving Cruz Bay on your way towards Jacob's ladder. We don't know why...it just makes us laugh.

Okay - sorry for the nasty word, but this was a pic that was one of many in Tortola - the little bar off to the left of Brewers Bay. Too funny...

Speaking of signs, we noticed that the stop sign at the T intersection by Warfside, the church and STJ Car Rental now is a real stop sign. It used to read, "Thou Shalt Stop."

The previous sign prompted a very intense debate last time we were on island. And by intense debate I mean, we were all very drunk. The lawyer part of me argued that it was not a "real" stop sign and could be disregarded. An argument also was made that it violated the separation between church and state. Someone else thought it was cute. Cute? This was a serious (read as drunken) conversation, cute wasn't a very popular position in this serious (drunken) conversation.

Well, now it is a regular stop sign. I, for one, would like Anderson Cooper to explain why it was changed. Yes, there is money riding on the outcome.

To respond to Budman, it takes a little bit of time to get used to running water when you shower, brush teeth and actually flushing the toilet after #1. The thing that drove me crazy on our most recent trip with the kids is that the girls didn't realize that they shouldn't put their toilet paper in the toilet when they were not going to flush. You get the picture: a toilet full of #1 and a LOT of toilet paper in there. Nice job saving water girls but how is the septic system going to handle all of the toilet paper when we do flush this puppy?

Pete-- FYI, we were pulled over for "drifting" through that stop sign on our last visit. No ticket, though.... hmmmmm..Perhaps it was "stoptional" after all!

The funniest part is the formal and polite use of the word "Ladies" combined with the use of the word "pi$$". I think that's hysterical! Does it qualify as an oxymoron? Not really, I guess.

Pete - they took that Thou Shalt Stop sign down while we were there right before Carnival.

CaliforniaGirl wanted us to get a pic of it for her, and we planned to go back and do it. When Cat and hubby got back there later in the week, it was gone

I've got a few. Some I've posted before, but I'm not sure of which ones.
This was up on Ajax Peak[img][/img]

This one was on Drunk Bay, and I'm sure the Jumbie's were responsible.

Though not actually a sign, this goes with the spirit of the thread. It sits up on Majestic Mile.[img].

This is a fun thread. Anybody got more?[/img]

Ahhh haa - I love the fork - best landmark for the first house we stayed in ever - the driveway right there was to the house Sunset Villa (I think that's what it was called). Anyway - that is the first villa I ever stayed in on St. John. It is no longer rented...
