Does anyone know Villa Coconuts on Gifft Hill?

Post by snorkelqueen »

This villa was suggested to us by Caribbean Villas after we noted that Dream Catcher is looking pretty shabby inside. :( We are a party of 6. The villa looks nice on the web, although the pool is much small than DC. We are concerned that the "loft bedroom" is not AC. Any information would be appreciated. We are looking at July of 08.

We stayed at Coconuts on our honeymoon in August 2005.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom only a queen. The great room which contains the loft has south facing views and is in full sun all day long. It gets very hot. There were about five table fans and ceiling fans, which gives you an indication of the temp. For me the loft would be too hot . As I sit here I can't remember if the loft has twin beds or not.

The house is realy four sepatate pods connected by covered breezways. The kitchen is on the opposite cormer from the outdoor dining area. The deck is quite large and we spent most of the time we were in the hosue out there, but it got hot in the afternoons. The pool is about 25 by 10 and nicely siuated between the pods. theer is an outdoor living room with a full dining room set and sofa's and chairs. These were worn, but they are outside to the elements.

The views are great, and there is alot of breeze becaue of how high up you are. The Villa too is a little worn, but for the proce I think it was reasonable.

It has easy acess to the road. it's the first house off the main street.

There were a few reviews posted, so check them out as well.

Thank you for the great information. I wish we had spent more time when we were there two weeks ago looking at other villas, but we never got around to it :P I'll check out the other reviews.....thanks again.

The two of us stayed at Coconuts villa in May 2006. We really enjoyed it, and like the other poster, we spent a lot of time on the deck, in the pool and hanging out in the covered gazebo area. Its not an upscale villa, but I wouldn't call it shabby either. In May, we also found that the loft area was very hot (we just went up to take a look at it one day) and felt that it would be too uncomfortable to sleep in since there is no a/c and its up high where the hot air hangs out. The stairs to the loft are pretty close to being a ladder - very steep. Some people may not like that, especially if you have to get up in the middle of the night to go potty which is down those stairs and off the living room. I had posted a review on this site, so you can look at that for more info or feel free to pm me.
Happy villa hunting!

We stayed at Seawatch which is (I think) like 4 villas down that road and it has the exact same floor plan.

We briefly checked the loft and thought it would be too hot to sleep in but I question whether or not kids would be fine with it. Cat thinks they wouldn't.

There were two twin beds in the one at Seawatch that could be made into one bed.

It was hot in that whole room even with the fans and I am sure the loft was hotter.

The stairs were VERY steep.

Hope that helps.

p.s. Seawatch was a little worn as well, but I would go back there again.

coconuts villa

Post by Rachelle & Joe »

Hi There, sorry to just getting around to your post! Anyway we stayed at coconuts 3 yrs. ago on gift hill..... I didn't care for the bdrms. being in seperate pod, also from pic's was not able to see that the kitchen also was outside the main bldg. the biggest concern though was the master bdrm. lock it looked as if someone had been trying repeatedly to chisel out that lock! I mean big time! totally raw wood around the whole lock! the doors are painted white, now we would think that they would of touched this up & maybe put some wood filler around it knowing that this could possibly spark concern with renters! well we tried to have a good time & took every precaution as we alway's do! we were there for 3 wks. at the end of our stay we returned to villa one evening to find someone on the property, he took off as soon as he saw us..... we called police but they never showed up.......... the view & deck were fantastic! but we would not stay there again. if u have any question will b happy to answer them.
