Traveling on a Saturday???
Traveling on a Saturday???
We are traveling on a saturday for the first time over thanksgiving. We have the option for either the 7am or 7:50am flight out to San Juan. The connection is @ 8:40 from San Juan. Does leaving that early in the morning prevent us from having the saturday travel troubles like I've read about?
Also, we are staying on STT and renting a car that we will return to a parking area at the airport. Thats what Dependable told us since they do not open until 8am. The last time we flew out our cab arrived at the airport for a 7am sunday morning flight at 6am and breezed through once customs opened up. Took maybe 20 minutes. We have always traveled on a thursday or sunday before so I am bit nervous traveling on a saturday after what I have been reading in various posts. Any help/advice would be much appreciated

Hi there. We left on a Saturday morning in June 2007 at 6am, Dulles to Atlanta to STT. We did not have any delays on any of these flights. The lines were not too long anywhere. On the return (Saturday)the lines were quite long at STT, but it wasn't unbearable. We experienced a 4 hour delay in Atlanta due to thunder storms, but did not miss any connections since our connecting plane could not land until the storm was over. Next year we are leaving and returning on Fridays in hopes of avoiding some of the lines at STT. I wouldn't worry about anything. It is what it is, and its vacation

Hi Schnell
You will be fine that early in the morning - the large back up starts about 11am to 3pm (or so) although the 8:15am to Miami on AA creates quite a mess to so if you opt to take the 7:50 make sure you get there no later than 6:30am as when I catch that Miami flight and arrive at the AA desk at 6:50 there has been recently a huge line by then (assuming your flights are on AA).
Hope this helps

Thanks for the personal experience Pia! I figured if we take the 7:50 (Yes-AA) then we would attempt to leave Frenchmans at about 5:45 and then park the rental at the lot dependable designates. So I hope to be at the desk by 6:30 like you mentioned. The last time we connected through SJU we had a 2 hour layover and it was about 90 minutes too long since the prop flight to SJU is so short. I figure it gives us about an hour in SJU to catch the connection. Should be ample time...I hope! Thanks again for the info on the morning flights Pia!Pia wrote:Hi Schnell
