day sail
day sail
Hello all,
We're off to STJ in a few months (7 weeks, but who's counting?
). The past few trips we've taken have included a boat rental, not a sail. Since it's just the two of us, I think we'd like to do a day sail this time. Any recommendations on who to book through? The only must do on my list of travels would be to go to The Soggy Dollar.

We went to Jost van Dyke with Capt. Phil on the Wayward Sailor in May. Although we didn't go to the Soggy Dollar, it might be on his list of places he'll go. We had a great time. He only takes a max of 6 people and the day we went it was just us and one other couple.

Captain Phil is great but I believe he no longer sails to Jost.
I would call Trevor at the following link - he is wonderful and will recommend the best trip for your needs.

My advice on choosing a day sail would be to be very specific about what you are requesting and make sure that they agree to your request... We were staying on STJ and booked a day sail that we had to take the ferry over to Redhook to board. We specifically ask when booking if we could go to Waterlemon Cay and/or some areas just off of STJ instead of the beaches we could get to easily along the north shore. We sailed straight to Caneel Bay, snorkeled, had lunch on the sailboat and went back to Redhook where we had to ride the ferry right back to Cruz Bay!!! We have laughed (luckily, we are so happy in paradise that nothing can upset our island vibe) and laughed about how much it cost us to get from Gallow's Point to Caneel to snorkel! (Can you say...ROOKIES!)

"By the time we hit Miami, the cell phones will ring and life as we know it will draw us back in, so tonight we will just continue to soak in the sounds, the sights, the tastes and the feelings of St. John."
