What dry goods to bring from home?
Is food really more expensive? Yes but in my experience, how much it shocks you depends on what you buy and how often.
Milk is much more expensive than at home but our family doesn't drink milk (except our son and for coffee) so the one-time purchase doesn't hurt the wallet so much.
Things like chips and such (snack food) seem to be really add up for our family, which is why I try to keep those purchases to a minimum.

We brought food for the first time last year-one med sized suitcase; we've never had a lost luggage problem (cross our fingers) so don't mind checking it. Plus that way we had an empty bag to stuff full of things to bring back!
We brought pringles, brownie mixes, oatmeal, granola, lots of dried fruit for the hubby, powdered drink mixes, and some other stuff that escapes me. It's actually been one of the few times that we got the dreaded note in our bag afterwards "don't be alarmed, but the tsa has searched your bag" (or words to that effect). wonder what they thought when all they found was food?

melmd, yes the food is that expensive on STJ! I live in the DC area and was told the prices were just pennies more. HA! The selection of meat is nill, so next year Im packing some, and our diabetical
snacks which are impossible to find there (south beach diet, sugar free stuff, low carb stuff, etc). A bag of plain popcorn was $4 and loaded with salt. After a week it really adds up. I second the powdered drink mixes too...we drank lots of that!
