1st time trip

Post by sillymom »

In 10 days hubby ,my 9 yr old son and I will be leaving for St. Thomas. I know we should have stayed on St John ,but hubby travels and we had tons of Marriott points to use for our resort. Him being gone traveling has its perks. I have a feeling before even leaving this will be one of many trips.
We plan on going over to St John for a day .Might to a trip to the Jost .Other than that nothing for sure. Oh well my son has mentioned Atlantis ,but still kind of undecided.
I have to say there is no way I could have planned this trip without the help of this forum .I am so addicted. I dont post alot ,but can tell you I am on reading several times a day .You guys ROCK !
From reading I know several of you use spices from the islands. What ones are must haves? I want to get some to bring back home. I am a frequent lurker of the food porn thread...lol
Any other advice for a first timer would be great . Oh we are renting a Jeep for our stay .Thanks a million .

have a great time. as for spices you must stop in and see Ruth and Ron @ St. John Spice and look around. It is right at the end of the STJ ferry dock, you can't miss it. Enjoy!

Have a great trip! St. John Spice is up the stairs that are on your right as you exit the ferry dock. Tons of spices, but lots of other shopping to be done there too. We bought a bottle of the raspberry jalapeno stuff and spread it over cream cheese to have with crackers in the villa. YUMMY!!

Enjoy the last few days of your countdown!

I was there about 3 weeks ago with my 9 yo daughter and 10 yo son. They (and so did we) LOVED Blackbeard's Castle near the 99 steps in C.A. They have a TON of pirate statues there including the inspiration for Cpn. Jack Sparrow (see pic), Cpn Morgan, Blackbeard of course, and many more. They also have a tour of the gov's mansion up there and a pool you can use with the price of admission, right next to a bar :D . Great views of STT from here as well. Highly recommended and a hit for kids of this age.

St. Thomas is a blast, just in a different way from St. John. I like to spend one week on each island to get my fix.

Don't miss snorkeling at Coki, Sapphire and Secret Harbor. Magens is a great as well, snorkeling off to the left side. Bolongo has a nice beach and good restaurants.

Have fun in St. Thomas, i can't wait to get back!
