All you electronic techies, I have an OT question
We are going to Maine next week and while I would love to leave the laptop at home, it looks like I will have to bring it.
My question is: Have you ever used your cell phone as a "wireless modem" to get an internet connection?
We will be out in the woods and while I can get a great cell signal, there is no wifi.
I hate to use dial up, but I will if I have to.
Thanks

I use my cell phone as a modem. Sprint is my provider. Not too familiar with any other providers. Check with yours. I had to put software on the computers that I wanted to get online by using my phone. My connection can be as fast as a DSL connection to as slow as dial up depending on where I am in their network. Location can matter on quality of data connections. I used it last week in California and it will be my connection to the internet on STJ when I arrive in August. Check with your provider to see if they offer data connections via your phone. I even found a way to pirate a data connection on my phone, but since I am such a nice pirate, I pay anyway. Arrgh!
