"Time Out" on St. John - Day 1

Post by StJohnRuth »

We're on vacation!

The Trip Here:
We started out a little later than expected. We were supposed to leave for vacation at noon. Long story short, we didn't leave until 3:30. Grabbed some coffee and Cruz Bay Grill Rub and ran out the door, even though the store was kind of busy with Rainy-Day Shoppers. (See Ya! Glad I was there for Bug's call, though. We had a nice chat.)
Rushed home to pack up all our stuff. We had no idea if we'd have any internet set-up at the house, so we tossed the wireless box into the pile of stuff and threw it in the suitcase. (We were really rushed and forgot a bunch of stuff we'll need, but that's OK. We'll go home and get it tomorrow.)
We made a quick stop at Starfish and got a cooked chicken and potato salad and salad stuff and some drinks and snacks and ice cream. We'll get more stuff later.
Drove up to Chocolate Hole East Road and to Time Out. Ron had run through the house earlier with the villa manager, so he showed me around.

The Villa:
What a cute house. I'll write more about it later. Here's the web site at VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner)

The Initiation:
Ron was in the pool within minutes, then straight into the spa. It's been SO HOT here, every time he mentioned the words "hot tub" in the past few days, I just went "ick." I have to say, after a refreshing cool-off period in the pool, the little spa started to interest me. I stuck my feet in. Not Bad. Then I was in. OK, I get it now. A hot tub is a nice feature.

We sat and looked at the view, which I really like. We checked out all the other houses on the hillside and wondered how we can put names to all of them. I may post some photos later and ask for help identifying these other villas we see. (I don't actually know how to do this, but maybe I'll try to figure it out.)
Within a few minutes, Ron decided we should try to see if the computer works. It does! (Obviously.)

Our Plans:
We have no plans at all. We'll let you if we do anything besides sit by the pool and watch a cloudy sunset and a little yellow rubber duckie floating around in the pool.

-Ruth & Ron

I cannot believe you guys are actually taking a vacation! This is so cool. My advice? Let villa gravity take hold. You don't HAVE to do anything. This is your chance to just chill out by the pool, in the spa (hee hee, you get it now!) and read a book or two. If you feel like going to a beach, do that.

See you soon.

Enjoy your vacation. You guys REALLY deserve this.

Oh Ruth, I am so glad you were there when I called too. I love chatting!! I'm so happy that you and Ron are finally getting a much deserved vacation. MAKE SURE YOU GET TO CORAL BAY - It's really nice on that side too - heheheheh. Next year you can have my 17 year old for the summer to work to death at your store for free room and board. Then you can take lots of vacation days

XOXO

Enjoy your holiday. The villa looks very cute. Ever since we stayed at Dream Come True a couple years ago, we require a hot tub and a pool in all rentals. Remember college when a bed near the beach was just fine? i

That's just about is the cutiest thing I've read on this forum. A local business owner "vacations" where she lives. I sure as hell don't want to vacation in Houston, Texas.

I'll be there next week and come by to introduce myself. I'm part of the SOTB gang, so I'm hoping you get some time off in Nov. so spend with us.

Have a great vacation!!!! Time Out looks darling.
