Some might say that this villa is over the top, that it shouts, "I have kazillions of dollars!", maybe even that it's ostentatious....
Would I rent it if I could afford it?
You betcha...in a New York minute

It takes both the sun and the rain to make a beautiful rainbow. --Unknown
It is actually on the rental market -
http://www.hawksviewestate.com/
it is also offered through Caribbean Getaways.
Maybe the owner has it set up as a business for tax purposes?

promo,
Do you mean that you think he will take it off the rental market? Presently, I think it's managed by Carefree and it also has its own site.
Sounds like this fella does have gazillions.

What Villa are you renting next winter, Maryanne?
Arc Digest
Yes the one at the top is Hawksnest Estate. When we stayed at Hawksnest Villa 4 years ago they were just finishing the inside details and bringing in the furniture. Hawksnest Estate shares a driveway, or at least the first part of it with Hawksnest Villa and then you turn off to the left. We went up there with our villa manager as she wanted to speak to one of the construction guys about a project he was working on for her.
The view was magnificent but we did not get into the actual house as the construction vehicles were still grading the outside and I was too lazy to walk up the hill through the debris.
Silly me.
We are looking at Sago Palms and Spellbound for our August trip. Both advertize that they are high above Denis Bay. I wonder if they are the 2 villas that appear to be set back above and to the right of Hawksnest Estate in the photo posted above?

Both Spellbound and Sago Pams sit on a ridge and look out over Denis and the tip of Caneel. Spellbound seems to be much higher and more set back with 270 degree view from STT to Tortola. Sago Palms seems to be set into the side of the mountain.
Both houses are accessed from roads off Centerline-- I think CateredTo said you turn left at the rock wall before the clinic and Private Homes said you turn left on a road after the clinic.
For all of you long-time St John villa quest folks-
there used to be a house called Stoneridge that was up there but is no longer on the rental market. There was also the Denis Bay House that was 2 cottages attached by a walkway with really great views. They came off the rental market in the late 1990's.
While we are on the topic of trivia--does anyone remember "Crash Landing"?--the bar in Cruz Bay with the light aircraft hanging off the roof?
