You guys have twisted my arm and MADE me post a picture of my sweetie 'Shadow', a chocolate lab. She is only 9 years old but she is prematurely grey like her Mom....who has chemically dependant hair now!

I was chatting with Pia and she asked what was for dinner so here it is! Nothing elaborate as I'm still doing vacation laundry and getting things back in order. I picked about 30 grape tomatoes today so made a salad with vidalia and cucumber with basil and rosemary picked freshed. Also used STJ Spice Garlic Peppercorns, topped with some soft garlic and herb cheese. Had this with simple pasta and artichokes with a lemon caper sauce.

Yesterday we got the first striped bass of the season! Here is our celebratory cocktail, frozen raspberry puree and sparkling wine:

Here is a big piece of the striper, it weighed about 4 lbs, marinated in olive oil, cruz bay grill rub, salt and pepper:

and plated with a peach salsa, homemade mac and cheese, green beans, and sauteed summer squash:

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Here's the Sunday night fare at our house:
Pork tenderloin that was injected with a mixed fruit juice based marinade last night, then rubbed with a homemade rub about an hour before going on the grill.
The pork is topped with a mango/pineapple/kiwi salsa, and on the side is romaine lettuce topped with homemade caesar dressing, homemade garlic parmesan croutons, and freshly grated romano cheese.

Oh yeah! Great looking food, gang! Since i distracted us with doggie pics, let me help keep us on topic (for a while, anyway).
The BBQ competition went pretty well. This particular competition has an invitation on Thursday and Friday that brings in 10-15 of the biggest names in BBQ (the teams that you see on the Food Network when thdey show BBQ comps), so this is a tough field. We ended up 21st overall (out of 65 teams) which is an improvement for us over last year. We were 12th in ribs. The dessert didn't work out as well as we would have liked. They changed the rules this year and we didn't find out until we were on site. I couldn't use the martini glasses for presentation so it didn't look that great.
So... Last night I wanted something that wasn't BBQ so I tossed an Eye of Round into the Weber Smokey Mountain and cooked it until it was medium (the way my wife likes her meat).

We served it with mashed Yukon Gold taters and fresh sweet corn.

Time to start working on convincing the wife that we have to go back soon!

Well, I remembered to grab the camera tonight. Dinner was Lemon Grass Chicken with Cilantro Pesto and Jalapeño Pepper Cornbread Cups. The Lemon Grass Chicken was marinated in Vietnamese-style Nuoc Chom made from fish sauce, lime juice, palm sugar, shallots, garlic, chilies, sriracha sauce, lemon peel and lemon grass and then grilled on charcoal. The Jalapeño Pepper Cornbread Cups were standard Yankee Cornbread (East Coast Grill style) baked in fresh picked Biker Billy Jalapeños (big and meaty).

Gus provided color commentary and licked Christine's toes during dinner.
