Still Waters and Chocolate Hole Construction

Post by Knolmom »

Has anyone stayed in this Villa? Price is discounted for August through CV, which is not uncommon, but I was wondering what the status of the Pond Bay construction is and how the noise, if any, would impact our stay.

Very nice looking Villa, love the kitchen and the blue tile. I can't help you with your questions other than i'm sure i've seen a recent pic of the land all cleared and bare between the pond and the hole.

Knolmom,
Sorry I can't help you with Still Waters....but I'm hoping that you can help me by giving me information about Rapture if you are familiar with it. I recall that you made mention of this villa in a previous post. Thanks. :) ....mia

Hi Pia and others
You wanted to know what I know about Rapture.

First let me say that I have never been inside, but 2 years ago, when staying at Villa Capiz, I felt as if I were inside the upper level indoor living area and outside on the pool deck. At the time, Rapture was not yet in the rental market, but one person, quite possibly the owner, was staying there. He would leave every morning, dressed in casual business attire(not sports clothes) and return with different folks who would tour the house. After aeach party left, he would rearrange some of the furniture, both inside and out. It seemed to me then that he may have been interviewing prospective villa management companies.

The furnishings from a distance seemed to be upscale.
The view, of course, is dynamic. The pool and pool deck would not be private, from the outer area of the pool deck of Villa Capiz, and perhaps from other villas in the Gift Hill area. I imagine that you can also see into the upper living area of the house from Hummingbird Hill villa also. I do want to stress that you cannot see any of the bedroom areas from Capiz. You also look down on the entry foyer and what could be a playroom on the right side of the house.Rapture is along the uppermost row of houses of the Virgin Grand Estates.
Wish I could afford to stay there. Would not hesitate to do that, even with the apparrent lack of privacy, because the house and views are wonderful. Dont think it would be off-putting to anyone but honeymooners or a group of people who want C/O surroundings.
They are having a great fall rate reduction on this house through CV. Maybe someone will stay there and tell us more, or, maybe when Mary Beth stays at Capiz, SHE will tell us more(LOL).

Knolmom,
Thanks so much for your reply. BTW....I'm mia not pia. Not that I would mind being pia, since she is fortunate enough to live on St. John. 8) ....mia

I have a little info on both Still Waters and Rapture. My wife and I stayed at Still Waters about 4-5 years ago and it is a beautiful villa. Great kitchen and very private pool. It's pretty far up on the hillside (just below Bongo Bongo), so any noise eminating from construction at Pond Bay would have to travel a pretty fair distance. As for Rapture, we had a brief tour inside it a year or so ago as our builder in Coral Bay was also the builder of Rapture and he wanted to show us a few things he had done there. Rapture may be the most luxurious villas I've been in on St. John. It has an outdoor living area that dwarfs the inside of most other villas. Gorgeous - gorgeous - gorgeous. Much room and privacy available inside and out. Beautiful pool with a great turtle statue. Sweeping views all around.

Thanks Randy :) :) :)
Rapture sounds great. I would love to stay at Reef Madness sometime....but I'm searching 3 bedroom villas for September, 2008. Although we much prefer Coral Bay....everything is closed during that time of year....mia

Hi

For what it's worth, we stayed at Villa Capiz in May (yes I know I still owe everyone a trip report). We did see a villa with a red clay roof below us and we wondered what it was - it would now appear to be Rapture. We could see part of the pool, but that was it - no interior views. Just thought that I'd share our views.
