will be home alone and waiting for me to let her out and fill her tummy. :)

We will be cooking at a competition at the Racine Zoo in September (Sept. 21 & 22). Maybe some of the Wisconsin folks (or anyone close) can stop by there to meet and have a beer and some BBQ. We'll also be at Lamb's Farm (north of Chicago) on October 19th & 20th for any one close to there.

At most BBQ competitions Friday night is social night since the teams have finished setting up by then and won't start cooking until 11:00 pm or so. A lot of teams will also allow visitors on Saturday morning until 10 or 11 (it depends on the team). After 11:00 we are heads down getting things ready to turn in for the judges. The first turn-in is chicken at 12:00, then ribs at 12:30, pulled pork at 1:00 and beef brisket at 1:30. Some competitions have additional categories (like beans, sausage ,dessert, etc.) and those are either on Friday night or Saturday after the main four meat categories. We rarely kick out friends (unless they are really annoying :) ) but we will politely ask strangers to stay out of the cooking area during crunch time. Some people can be very bold. Some teams have actually had people grab meat out of their turn in box! We gladly give out samples, but not until we have turned in that particular meat and are done with it.

We are the "Get Your Wild Game On!" BBQ team. The two team "owners" are opening a meat market that specializes in wild game. Here's our logo...

Thanks... That is her "Don't I get any of that food?" look. She's generally a good girl, but she is a typical lab. A 5 year old puppy!

Cute puppies Jorge!

Ron_L: Cute dog too!
If we get a dog that is the kind we would get.

September 22nd in Racine sounds great for another forum party since so many can't make this Saturday!
Racine is only about 40 minutes from my house.
Lamb's farm is probably the same distance, just South.
I could bring my son, the aspiring chef.

Jorge! the puppies are soooo cute! I love puppies! They are so soft and cuddly.

Geez... I sound like a girl! Better cowboy up!

Sea-Nile... That would be fun! If the Zoo does the same thing that they did last year they will have some sort of activity on Friday night (Last year they had a special dinner at the zoo) and then again on Saturday night (They had live music on Saturday). they do kick everyone except the BBQ teams out at 11:00 so the animals can ge their rest. I don't think anyone told the lions that they were supposed to be resting last year. They were roaring at 3:00AM!

Cute puppies, Jorge! Have you read Marley and Me? It's a cute story about a golden lab that just won't behave. I can't have pets because of my allergies, but I love looking at other people's!

Good luck tomorrow, Ron!

liamsaunt,

"Marley and me" is a great book!

I read it when our lab (who fortunately does not share all of Marley's "qualities" was about six months old).

Enjoy the pups Jorge!

Ron, Jorge ... Adorable pictures!
We had a wonderful black lab too, Sebastian, and lost her last January too. (Tom ). They are the BEST dogs. I'm not quite ready to get another one yet, but my kids are pushing hard. I can't let them see Jorge's pictures!

I have a black lab. Her name is Molly and she is 11 yrs old now. She is the best protector a girl could ever have. And is the sweetest dog ever!!

Have fun with your new puppies Jorge and Barb!
