Day 5, 6/26 I'm sick, shopping and Cinnamon Bay

Post by starfish »

Through Monday night I could tell my ear was worsening. I felt fluid draining and my ear was painful to rest on. I was getting worried and lay there at times thinking and at times dozing. When I woke up, my ear canal was completely swollen shut! It felt like the side of my face was stuffed with cotton. Worried, I called Myrah Keating center and they were fantastic. I made an appointment for 2 pm. Meanwhile, my husband called back to our pharmacy to double check on the last meds I was on successfully. I was already on the right stuff and he told me to up the dosage, meaning I would run out. So he called Chelsea pharmacy and was able to order more there (he is a physician). Very handy with the VI being American. With antibx and motrin, I started to feel better. We left the kids (remember 18, 15, and 12 so not child abuse) swimming in the pool and we went to Chelsea pharmacy, then on shopping. I loved Bamboula and got a starfish tortoise shell hair clip. By the time we got back to the villa, I felt better and cancelled my doctor's appointment. We gathered everyone up and went to lunch.

Lunch was at Sun dog cafe. This was fantastic! I know my husband had shrimp ceasar salad, Fish tacos were ordered by somebody also. We each had two drinks a piece. The kids favorite was passionfruit-raspberry smoothy- very tangy and tasty.

Leaving we went to Cinnamon beach. I had thought I would rent a kayak, but I was too tired from the sun and my ear infection. The sand was blowing up and stinging a little so we didn't stay long.

At home, I read a book and started to doze on the deck of Sapphire Breeze. It was relaxing, until I realized I was beginning to feel chilled and went and crawled into bed. I had a mild fever, and everyone was all worried, but I sent them out to the Beach Bar to eat while I slept it off. They came back, I had rested and they brought me a Mahi sandwich. Its not quite as good having it as takeout, but I was feeling better which was ultimately more important than making it to the Beach bar one more time.

Hubby thought he was getting an ear infection but thankfully it all worked out fine. He had to sit out a day of snorkeling but he felt better the next afternoon. He just didn't dive down that day. I'm glad it wasn't as bad as your sounds!
