Day 2, Saturday 6/22, Waterlemon

Post by starfish »

Boy, I am forgetting details taking this much time to write this up! (Shhh, don't tell, but last night, my husband and I enjoyed some nekkid time in the pool while the kids were in bed.) I believe the next morning we woke up to a rainbow. Breakfast of french toast and cheesy eggs on our deck after our kids got up. Today was the day to visit Waterlemon, our first visit. The trek was much longer and hotter than I expected, about a 30 minute walk. But the snorkeling was rewarding as we saw a turtle, got all excited and took pictures, then saw a BIG turtle with two remora attached and took more pictures! The coral was fantastic, especially on the back side of the cay. We were happy when we were done.
Lunch was at Shipwreck landing. It was very good, however my tuna special was to come with a spinach salad and the waiter informed me it was to be arugula and came out regular 'ole lettuce. Also, when we came in, a group was ordering food and GOT their food before we even were asked for our order. Then another couple came in, ordered and got their food before ours came out. Then, my son's salad had no dressing- the waiter asked him what he wanted then never came back with it! So overall, great food (mostly) but poor service that day. I know what island time is, but 1 1/4 hours to even get your food is a bit much.

On the way home we stopped at Love City mini mart. It started to be a trend to stop at local little markets. I think we hit them all except Lily's. We returned to our villa and it was 3 pm by now. Honestly, we'd started out with a touch too much sun yesterday and the cool pool water felt like silk on our skin. We floated, drank a few homemade bushwackers and felt great. My oldest disappeared downstairs into his apartment to read in the cool A/C. I felt like it was his cave. Kinda like home, you know?

We walked around the crafty area and my daughter got a necklace for herself and my oldest got one for his girlfriend. I got two great necklaces that were beaded. Dinner tonight was the Beach bar. We also stopped at Ocean Runner to reserve a boat for Monday and get the papers to fill out in advance. Beach bar had great tuna bites and chicken wing sauce. I had already had too many drinks, so stuck to water. However, some patrons felt like it was ok to talk vulgar loudly. I know its a bar, but with my 12 year old daughter right next to this group, a guy kept wanting to talk about a "BIG PENIS" repeatedly. Ha, Ha he thought he was so funny! It was around 7:30/8:00, so fair game for bar atmosphere to start I guess. My sons remarked that we got our food a lot faster here without a waiter involved than we did at lunch! After dinner we went up to St John Spice, but Ruth wasn't there. I left my name for her. While shopping around (got some great Indian spices), heard someone else leave their name too! So I met Barb Y from the forum, heard her plans and let her know we didn't plan on the forum get together. Back to Sapphire Breeze, we tried to fire up the Jacuzzi. My son stepped on a tree frog which ended up leaping onto the wall. Cool frog, but yucky to step on. The Jacuzzi wasn't working, but we sat in it anyway.

Love the report. Thanks. Just booked Sapphire Breeze for next year. We are taking my mother in law so we figured it would be comfortable for her should she choose to stay around the villa some days. Not sure we'll get much nekkid pool time with here there. Tried to get Splendore but the dates didn't work.

Wolfhound, I was also interested in Splendore, but didn't want my graduate to sleep on a hide-a-bed. We also looked at Anole (booked) and La Papaya (booked by the time we decided). Hope you checked out the pictures I posted. The view is even better than the pictures as those just show the view to the left, but you'll see the sea on the right too. Also the pictures are somehow kind of blueish.
