Bongo Bongo vs Miles Away

Post by lbjpryan »

Any thoughts about these two villas. Wife and I are taking her sister and husband for their first trip to STJ in June 08...We have typically stayed in around Coral Bay. What about location distance to Northshore beaches, space in the houses for two couples, etc. Thanks in Advance.

we loved Bongo but we were just 2 on our trip. can't really comment from experience on 4, but to me I think it would be a nice set up for 2 couples. each have their own privacy.
I love the look of Miles Away also but have not stayed there. If it matters to you Bongo has a hot tub while Miles doesn't and Bongo also has WiFi, not sure about the other. If either of these amenities are important to you.

Location for us was great. Bongo is not far past the Westin and we found there was easy access to anything we needed. Either one I think you are getting a winner.

Husband and I just returned from our 10 day honeymoon on STJ. We had a wonderful stay at "Miles Away" from June 20-27th. Both bedrooms in the villa are air-conditioned, the masterbedroom has a king bed which is extremely comfortable and the shower is a walk-in, very large with good water pressure(a plus). I can't speak much about the other bedroom, however it is only accessible from the Veranda, making it somewhat private--kind of nice if you are traveling with another couple, I thought?! The masterbedroom has 2 sets of french doors, one that opens to the pool and another with a view straight out to quiet Fish Bay. We found the pool to be very refreshing in both the morning and evening. Don't think we would have used a jacuzzi/hot-tub even if they had one, since the pool/patio area gets sun throughout the day. Not sure about the internet capabilties (didnt bring my laptop), but you could email Destination St John with any questions...hope this info helps! Happy 4th everyone!!
Side note-only rained twice, both times at night, and still had NO trouble with mosquitoes at the Villa.

forgot to mention that "Miles Away" villa is only a 5-10 minute drive to Cruz Bay and 15-20 minute ride to the N. Shore Beaches. We rented a jeep and found it really beneficial, since we were first-timers and wanted to explore the island. Safe and happy traveling!!

We were at Miles Away the week before cthelz (June 9-16). We LOVED everything about it; location (quiet), patio/veranda, pool, beds, washer/dryer and especially location to Cruz Bay restaurants and grocery stores. Great kitchen as far as appliances and cookware if you will be preparing any meals. There were only 2 of us, but I would definitely consider it to be private enough for another couple.
Last year we stayed on the Coral Bay side, but preferred this (Miles Away) location as far as restaurants. You have to go through town to get to the North Shore beaches, but that's easy. Destination St. John was nice to work with. I posted some pics on my trip report; Trip Report June 9-16; Villa, Jeep Rental and Groceries (or something like that ).
Please pm me if you have more specific questions.
