Has anyone snorkeled Denis bay?

Post by parafins »

I visited Denis Bay back in June and found that it is a wonderful place to explore.I didn't have time to snorkel there and the entry into the water looked tricky.Has anyone tried snorkeling or even visiting there?I love the "secret" path down to Denis Bay.

There really isn't good snorkeling there. The small cay is rocky and the currents are rough. The entry is also very rough. Don't try it without booties, and don't try it, if the wind or the current is up, at all. Most of Denis is privately owned, so you are confined to the small area of beach by the cay. Exploring any farther than that can get you chased off!

I've only ever snorkeled around from Jumbie Bay. The most interesting part of the swim was the point between Jumbie and Denis Bays with some large fish and lobster. It was fun to walk down the beach and back. Denis Bay does get nice afternoon sun. If there was any swell at all I would not attempt the swim.

Cheers, RickG
