I ws at CVS today and they have 3 oz SPF30 and 15 in there store brand
Coppertone makes a 3oz SPF30 and Nutragena makes a 3oz SPF55.

Just bought mine for August.

No checked for me. I am only on island for a few days so one small suitcase and my tote bag and I am there!

I don't understand the "no checked luggage" thing. What's wrong with checking a bag? Personally, I love that moment when the surly airline person takes my suitcase and I now am traveling lighter.

Sure, you have to wait for your luggage at the other end, but at the other end I thought we all were on "island time."

Full disclosure...in all my years of flying my luggage never has been lost. Is that why some people avoid checking luggage at all costs?

Help me, carry on people, to understand the error of my ways. Why carry your stuff when someone else has offered to do it for you?

Thank you! I didn't check CVS, and I couldn't find anything less than 45, which I did buy and take to St. John. We did carryon only and planned to buy what we needed down there. Fortunately our villa was stocked with sunscreen in about every number. We were very happy that we went with only what would fit in our carryons .... we still had too many clothes.

I just like getting off the plane and going. Normally I check luggage but for a quick trip, I don't want to waste any time at the luggage carousel.

I have had my luggage lost a few times, travelling through San Juan. It is no fun waking up on STJ with the clothes you traveled with and nothing else. Then you have to wait for it to be put on the ferry and hope that they call and tell you when it arrives.

All it will take is one time for you to stand in line, wait for your baggage, and find out it is lost.
This is followed by hours and hours of wasted time including, filling out paperwork, followed by waiting and waiting for phone calls, followed by no clothing, cameras, etc,followed by purchasing new stuff, followed by meeting up with someone to get your luggage, IF it finally gets to STT.

It's not a fun experience....especially when its so easy to take one carry on bag and have a good time.

And now the lost luggage arrives on the car ferry and only one company delivers it and if you are not there to sign for it they take it back to STT

We honeymooned on Virgin Gorda. Our luggage was lost. We did back one change of clothes in our carry on but they were beach clothes.
The first night we went to dinner in the resort's beautiful (and only) dining room wearing the clothes that we had on since 4am. And then we headed back to same dining room in the morning with the same clothes. There is nothing worse than being stuck without your stuff.

Why carry-on? So many reasons. It's very freeing to walk off the plane and march right on past the luggage carousels. If I check a bag, I typically take too much stuff. Truth is, you just don't need that much in the Caribbean. If you're staying at a resort or a home with a washer/dryer, it's just as easy to wash stuff in the middle of the week. I'm pretty high maintenance, and I still manage to take everything I need. Plus, like others have mentioned, it's no small feat to get your bag on STJ if it gets lost.

Pete, for me it was when my bag ended up mysteriously leaving the airport and ending up in a field about 10 miles from the airport where a farmer found it. Let your skivvies be found by a pig farmer just once and you'll buy in to carry-on too....

I seriously doubt we will ever be able to cross over to carry-on only but I will say that after the last trip's fiasco with delayed luggage, our family's carry on rules are changing. All are required to take a "survial" carry-on with enough to get you through two days without any whining or complaining.

I travel every week for business. I roll my Travelpro 22incher and my briefcase (it's actually a backpack style bag) onto the plane and sit tight until I arrive at the next gate. I am frequently in the rent car or my own car before the carousel even starts to turn.

When we "go island time" I still carry the same things with several days of my wife's and my clothes and our two ziplocks (one each). The rest (bigger bag, snorkle bag, etc) are checked. If they are lost or delayed we can get along --- except for the snorkle bag.

Knock on wood -- it has never gotten lost.

I do like some of the suggestions that I've seen here, and we will try them.

"Let your skivvies be found by a pig farmer..." would be a new experience for me. Leave it to VickiH to bring us new and interesting concepts.

I will there for only a few days. My packing list is small

2 Pairs Khaki shorts
2 neutral tank tops
3 t-shirts
2 bathing suits
1 coverup
1 sundress
1 pair gym shorts
underwear
toiletries

I will wear flip flops, capris, a t-shirt and a lightweight sweatshirt on the plane.

I could fit that in a big backpack if I had to!

Right On X ...that list looks just right

I go to STJ in the winter and here is my list:

2 khaki shorts
3 T shirts
1 swim trunks
Topsiders for dressup
2 golf shirts for dressup
Canon TX-1 video/still pocket camera
Since I always go commando no need for that other stuff,
Shaving gear and a couple of paperbacks

Ware long pants, shirt, sweater on airplane and good to go....
